Good evening Fellow Spartans,
does anyone know of the scuttlebutt on the Halo series which was rumored to be a Showtime exclusive with none other than Steven Spielberg as Executive Producer?
i had to check my shorts, twice, last year when I read the articles online.
I know E3 is right around the corner (and I have a feeling 343i & Microsoft are going to make it rain this year) but I’m an impatient man when it comes to my Halo news…
if anyone would be kind enough to shed some light on this it would be MOST appreciated.

I think this one is more butt than scuttle. They needed a big Halo announcement to coincide with the debut of the Xbox One at E3, and with no game on the near horizon, this is what they chose to fill the gap. I’d love for it to still happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this was just the same kind of (regrettably) empty promises that 343i has used to fill all of its dead air.

I’m worried about the future of this project as well. I suspect Nightfall’s lack of success may have been the final nail in the coffin.

You’re spot on Pompano. My fingers are crossed however, I do have one major concern.
If there was any large production which involved Speilberg, there would be something on the internet… Someone would snap a photo on set and post it… IMDB would list something, screen rant/variety would as well.
And I can’t find a single shred of Intel on the web about an upcoming series
Either Microsoft/343i/Amblen Entertainment have this project on TOTAL lockdown or, there is nothing in the works…
and the latter would suck.

Maybe the production team is doing their job and keeping it quiet. Lots of confidentiality forms with harsh penalties work sometimes.
I sure hope we get more info this E3.
I’m hopeful that E3 will shed some light on this. They’ve hopefully been extremely quiet for a reason.

Frankie confirmed tonight on NeoGAF that it is NOT cancelled. Expect to hear stuff at E3. Showtime likely has a partnership for the TV series since they are now airing Nightfall.

I’m stoked that this is happening! Had my doubts though since not even the slightest indication was out there to give someone the idea that it is still in production and not cancelled.
I’m really crossing my fingers for a Game of Thrones like impact show… something of high caliber and quality. Now I know Game of Thrones has different lore and an established tv following right now but Halo has the capability of matching the elite programs that are out there now. It has the lore that is more than deep enough to withstand many seasons if need be. The story/lore is fascinating enough to create amazing episodes that viewers can be engaged in. Basically it comes down to the money… how much is Microsoft willing to throw in for this show? If Spielberg is overseeing this production, he has the budget to run with his talent/imagination, and 343 can flex their muscle with an engaging story… then this could be a show that eagerly gets everyone, not just ‘Halo fans’, excited to watch this show every week.
My guess… they’ll knock this out. From a marketing and business standpoint, they have sooo much to gain if they do so and will suffer a much missed opportunity if it flops.
