Did anyone else know there’s a Mass Effect Easter egg?
I’m personally a bit disappointed. I half expected a bit more polishing, we all know that a ton of stuff has been produced prop wise prior to this show coming online.
I also agree with an earlier commenter, they should have gone with different Spartans and told a different story. There is no reason that we needed to reboot the Chief. You avoid issues with retconning celebrated characters but simply making compelling new ones. Have Chief appear in an episode or 2 but keep the mystique of his character as well as his established journey intact.
And is it just me or do the Spartans move really weird?
I don’t hate the show (not yet), but I’m definitely not super excited or full of anticipation for the next episode.
I guess I shouldn’t be surprised with a production associated with 343i.
Oscar Isaac isn’t in this. What are you talking about?
I mean, yeah he is in alot, but not this? Just a genuine mistake?
My bad. I was misinformed.
My point stands though. Chief needs a heavier voice.
It’s okayish and could’ve been much worse. It’s better than Infinite but that’s nothing to write home about.
The elites looked kinda bad though. Need to see more episodes but the pilot has me wanting more so far.
Spartans are trained to take orders and get yoink done.
he’s probably the next character 343 will kill off screen in some DLC audio log
hardcore henry was the best call of duty FPS movie ever of all time.
Honestly if they wanted to make this a true alternate reality complete with Miranda being a scientist and Keyes being black, they should have taken it a step further.
Name drop Chief at the end of the episode as Kurt.
Boom, timeline established.
This can be the timeline where John failed the augmentation and Kurt became Master Chief.
First part felt kinda cheap, later part had considerably more budget (probably cause it can be re-used compared to the 1-off innie outpost).
I don’t know why 343 likes Paragosky, “UNSC Bad”, and rebelious chief so much, its never gone down well in the games/books.
I don’t think being introduced to high charity so soon was wise. Its a kind of pointless scene regardless.
Universe feels strangely small. Everything has slipspace capability and seems chief can get from madrigal to reach in a matter of a few hours. Like i’ve never been a big believer in slipspace being that slow, but it feels odd everyone’s getting to places efficiently just using dropships and banshees. Where’s the actual starships?
Where’s grunt? It’s a pity there’s no grunt in the covenant.
The elite look clumsy, like brute.
Besides, I don’t understand the motivation of the role to take action.
But I like the battle scene very much.
Looking forward to the next episode.
I said this on another post, it applies here too.
It’s not bad, the problem is that… it’s not good either… it’s like a 5 or 6 out of 10. I’m going to give it three episodes, and if it doesn’t get better by then I’m not watching past episode 3.
The thing I’m most curious about is to what happened to the budget. They supposedly had 90-100 million dollars for this series (about 10 million per episode) and the cgi/vfx are not great and the writing so far is okay.
For comparison The Mandalorian had a budget of 12 million dollars per episode and it looks like a big budget movie. I know there’s a difference between 10 million per episode and 12 million per episode, but is it that big of a difference that elites need to look like literal cartoons in some shots?
It’s the best live action Halo show/movie we have gotten. I think the mid 2000s commercials still beat it out but I’m going to wait to see the whole season before I call this a bang or a dud.
it wasn’t until 343 took over that chief stopped following orders
the elites just look wrong their chest is way too wide,
the armor is wrong color for pre spartan III’s and up until around 2552 all armor was the same type/mark there were no variants, and it looks like cheap plastic they could have at least used metallic paint
the spartans move way to stiffly, in the books (not 343’s but og bungie’s) they are descirbe as moving with a “liquid grace” however these actors move like they are made out of 2x4s they really need to do some yoga and loosen up a little
my main concern is why the order for termination? having the innie leaders’ daughter as a bargaining chip makes a 1000% more sense than killing her immediately
this show is doomed to one maybe two seasons at most
also does the 'artifact" look like the assassin’s creed symbol to anyone else?
-edit- never mind on the barging chip part lmao i didn’t realize they killed off that general in the first ten minutes
Yeah that was extremely good. Really happy to see the Insurgent side of things!
You do know that Parangosky has literally always been the premiere face of UNSC bad, right?
After watching the first episode, I feel not as good as CW.
The first time I saw it, I ignored the story and the world view, which might confuse me.
But I still can’t find any highlights, mediocre camera editing and narrative, combat is the same as CW, but the show claims to have a budget of $10 million per episode.
In the first season of the CW show, it was quite good, but it got worse and worse.
But in this show, I fell asleep after the first episode.
After watching it for the second time, combining the story and the world view, I found it disastrous.
However, because of halo’s IP and 117 as the main character, the show has been renewed before the start of the show, which is sad.
The reputation and value of the halo are being corrupted by them.
The interesting thing is that the scriptwriter of this drama, before the broadcast, also said a lot of words that did not please the players and wanted to create freely.
It’s ridiculous that they say they want to create freely while continuing to use 117 as the main character to attract old fans.
The elite looks like a fat otaku.
Then they were killed by Sparta, which completely ruined my impression of the character, and they were not oppressive in the show.
I didn’t like how they introduced so many plotlines to the show early on an was like yea we will leave that unresolved for now.
Chief going off the path, so early on seemed so sudden and not really making sense so early in the show.
Really after the whole fight scene stuff the show stopped making really any sense as to then prices behind so much.
Like Cpt keys and Miranda having this whole secret Convo on a small room full of people.
Also not a fan of John having his memories suppressed.
The scriptwriter of this drama said that he would not please the players and that he had not played the game, but still continuing to use 117 as a popular cash cow.
The first episode had him take off his helmet pointlessly for a rebel child, Because you can’t cover an actor’s face if you want to get an award.
To be honest, it’s ridiculous.
It’s good enough to keep me interested for future episodes (and it was such a boring episode.
But, let’s at least be honest that the writing is so cringe.
I describe it as “The Mandalorian for Halo fans, minus Grogu” - Grogu being cute comic relief. The comedy is nonexistent, except for the moments when the writing is so bad haha. In its defense, The Mandalorian also had a boring first episode but turned out ok. But, looks like this series is similar but instead of Grogu being babysat, it is some overdramatic teenager with a mullet. ![]()
I think if Grunts come in with some funny dialogue it might get better.
Awsome cgi ? Jump off the sack bro
