Do you think that Halo should truly earn it’s “M” rating by adding some gore? I’m talking dismemberment, decapitations, you name it! But not to the point of Gears of War levels of gore. Let me know in this topic here.
I don’t really see the point.
I think bullet holes and blood caused in gun fights but if the flood return I think a bit more gore would be good. Like a flood worker carrying half a body to the corner of a room. Would make them a lot scarier. Should have to shoot off their limbs like in Dead Space to stop them. And not being able to sprint would make this crazy scary and hard. You would feel so vulnerable.
I think it has done well so far, I think it keeps the gore enough under the whole war circumstance, but I think that adding more is just a useless addition that would really make halo more of a horror game than an action (because lets face it aliens and gore can be pretty disgusting in the ways people add it in sometimes). To me I think they have kept the idea that we are fighting ruthless aliens but also that it is not an in your face blood everywhere kind of game
That would be <<yoink>> sick! I also read Halo: The Flood and it shows that the Master Chief was scared <<yoink>>less when he first saw those buggers! If the Flood do return, I want to see the Chief feel another human emotion. Fear. Pure terror! What do you guys think?
I don’t need more gore necessarily, but it would be cool if grenades made limbs fly off or at least make the armor look more damaged. They could add more gore to sword kills. That would be cool. The guns and bullet gore function fine though.
Not really. Maybe a slight bit more in cutscenes…if anything.
Nope. That’s what the flood is for…
The shooting of limbs made the flood a bit humerus in the older games. However, it changes the dynamic of gameplay away from what makes halo fun to me - flood/brutes were not as fun to fight as covies/prometheans. Just my two cents.
Too much gore turns people away from games. You can induce player fear without it - like CE did. Although the Chief doesn’t really express it in the lore outright, the books add to the emotions.
Just give us violence settings.
- Low: No blood.- Mid: Blood spurts from bodies and coats the area.- High: Same as mid, but leaves bullet holes in bodies and increases the amount of blood- Very High: Same as high, but with dismemberment. Lots of chunks and meaty bits.I would love this.
Hmm…good idea.
Nope. Its just fine as it. Would like to see more aggressive elite though, chasing you down and throwing things outta the way while chasing you.
Good idea man.
classic halo:combat evolved had some gore. when you shot something blood came out, and you could continue to hit the body and blood would keep expanding and spraying out. i once almost covered a whole room with blood from just 1 elite and 1 grunt. they need to bring that back, i dont want it to be red, keep it closer to the original. as for body dismeberment it is completely uneccessary.

That would be so cool. They sometimes toss grunts aside with their other hand too hehe
I love Gore in video games. It makes the game more immersive. I think that GoW levels are just ridiculously over the top which fit the game’s vibe, not counting the super emotional parts.
Wasn’t the part with “Requiem” in Spartan Operations evil enaugh?!
… … don’t ask. Thx.

I actually like this idea. If it could be pulled off like in the Gears of War series, it would work quite well.
Personally I would like to a considerable increase in the gore factor when fighting Covenant forces. There’s always been kind of a disconnect in that regard when fighting the Flood and Covenant. At the very least, enemies should lose their limbs if they’re blown up.
Of course encounters with the Flood should be the most gory of all.
Not necessarily gore, but brutality. Like, I want to see Master Chief punch a brute’s face repeatedly, with lots of blood, just as an example. Not like Kratos vs. Ares kind of face-punching gore, but just more brutal. Like certain games have made it brutal without adding gore. Can’t really give an example at the moment, but it would be great if Halo could manage an equilibrium.

This sounds alright for me, too; if this general aspect is realy necessary.
But if we have already variating effects, why not add a “PaintBall-Mode”, too. It is an old modification for Counter Strike (maybe some still know it), in which it looks like you are only playing around and not fighing. Shooting paintballs and if an enemy get “killed” he dissapears in a nice smokecloud.
It was always relaxing to use it, if you truely played for fun.
Something for days, if you already have enaugh. Also would be useful for smaller kids.
So I would add it here:
Paintabll-Mode: No blood. Bullet hits appear as colors everywhere. “Killed” enemies disappear in smoke clouds. Also no pain on your character is visible.
Low: No blood.
Mid: Blood spurts from bodies and coats the area.
High: Same as mid, but leaves bullet holes in bodies and increases the amount of blood
Very High: Same as high, but with dismemberment. Lots of chunks and meaty bits.
