Why does 343 assume that if they stuff halo 4 full of features such as specializations, armor abillities and ordnance drops It’s going to be a good halo game.
Every halo before reach was simple, you had your gun, your grenades and melee. So why did 343 feel the need to make the make more complicated with all those random gameplay elements. I feel like you can make a game better and make it feel updated without stuffing it with all kinds of features.
Also you shouldn’t see this as an complain thread, I’m just curious about what your opinions are regarding this fact.
Halo as we knew it isn’t coming back, better accept it and move on.
Instead of dwelling in the past, accept the changes, give feedback about them and trust that 343i implements them into game with better success than Bungie did with Armor Abilities and brainfart called Bloom.
Never adding anything new and keeping everything as simplistic as the last is not progress. If you want an out dated game then play an out dated game. The new games will never be the same as the last. Because if they were it would fail to be a NEW game.

ignoring the guy above me (sorry the shut up guy), which everyone should, I believe the reason 343 did these things is to keep multiplayer alive and fresh. Although I hate to say it random elements in a game is what creates different and unique experiences. Of course said things worked well without being as random in previous halos I think what 343 is really trying to push is having each game unique

Well that was constructive -.-
On topic: I kind off agree OP, but 343i seems to handle those implementations well, though.
I’ve played the game at Eurogamer and I’ll say that the game still is about the whole Gun, Grenade, Melee triangle, it’s just that you have a few more things to the side that add to the triangle. So instead of like turing the triangle into a square or a hexagon or a dodecahedron or whatever, it’s just a triangle with a few more things on the lines. The golden triangle is still very important.
The last Halo that was “simple” in the regard that weapons, grenades and melee are key elements of gameplay was Halo 2, which is nearly 8 years old now. If every Halo game released since then hadn’t made a single solitary change you’d be asking “Why are all the Halo games the same?” right about now.

I wouldnt.
I would play 20,000 games of it like I did H2 and H3.

For 8 years, really?
I don’t understand Halo fans sometimes. They hate on Call of Duty for essentially being the same thing since CoD4, but if Halo had remained untouched since Halo 2 it’d be amazing.
I honestly couldn’t think of anything worse that could happen to Halo.
The problem with adding things like specializations and armor abilities is that its going to be hard for 343 to ever remove them in future Halo games. Personally I prefer the clean gameplay of H1 or H2 (or even H3) so its a shame to see all this clutter and gimmicks in Halo, not to mention massive gameplay changes to things like CTF.
Halo should be simple. Shoot, grenade, melee.
Instead we get shoot, grenade, melee, armor ability, specialization, pick up flag… get stuck with flag… can’t get rid of flag!!

Me either really. Some changes are good some are bad, but nothing is worst then none at all.
Lets not forget that 343 is full of Halo fans… all of them… just a group of big time fans who came together to bring us more of the game they love… and there is a common element with most halo fan… immersion. A lot of us see ourselves in the spartans’ armour.
We want to feel like we are individualistic, our spartan is specialized to suit ourselves. These new “Gimmicks” like armour mods and load outs are just to add to the personality we wish to have with our spartans’. Some people go so far as to create back stories… or even further as to imagine whole new stories (IE Red vs. Blue). All just fantastic nerds who like to put their imaginations to good use when they play. Not everyone just wants to exploit game mechanics or grab the power weapons or sit there and camp or spawn kill. Some people assign whole personalities to their spartans so the more you can customize said spartan the better.
wow quite a spiel… anyways, for some of us a gun and a few grenades just isn’t enough anymore, we want OUR guns and OUR grenades and OUR helmet.
Also to everyone complaining that Halo 4 is “too complicated” - you all you that 343i confirmed that vanilla “classic” playlists will be in the game from day 1, right?

All of the things you listed can be removed easily in custom games in this Halo and more then likely future Halo games. (maybe not the flag thing idk)
