A new week, a new stroy. I wish 343 or microsfot would just come out an be honest with us about what is going on and where halo is moving forward. Jason Schreier just dropped a new article ( linked below) saying that "Microsoft’s 343 Industries will still make Halo games, despite rumors to the contrary. But with mass layoffs (at least 95 people), an engine pivot to Unreal, and a focus only on multiplayer for the near future, 343 is hitting the reset button. " what is true and what isnt anymore at this point.
i did too, i thought the campaign in halo infinite was actually good, i was excited for it to be a 10 year game and they add on to the story via dlc but now its all gone
Switching to Unreal for mainline Halo games, while easier to find contractors for, I think would potentially be detrimental to the feel of a Halo game. Unreal’s physics feel very, very different than do the physics one expects from Halo. I guess PC players in the future can expect all kinds of shader compilation stutter and temporal fizzle like what permeates 99% of UE games out there, too. Slipspace isn’t perfect by a long shot, but it’s a big part of why Halo feels like Halo and I’d have preferred to see that get an investment and be properly brought up to snuff instead.
I think the 10-year plan was a talking point they just pulled out of thin air, they were fully aware there was no other content ready to go, and you can’t have a live service game, without premade content staked up, and ready to be released on a time-line.
The 10-year plan was all part of the big lie, which is bizarre, what did they think, no one was going to come knocking and asking what happened to the $500 million spent on development, and also ask, where is all the content?
It’s not like it hasn’t been talked about by every content creator, posts on the forums, and media publications, all asking where is the content, and when are the problems going to be addressed.
So … More than a year after release It was inevitable, someone higher up in Microsoft was going to hear or read something, and it is truly amazing how long they were able to keep the deception alive. It’s unfortunate the solution they arrive at is to get rid of the story and focus solely on Multiplayer, Just to think, my favourite game, may be done.
What will it change tho? It’s gonna be the exact same old game, just, a much, much prettier one, but still the same outdated arena shooter formula, with sluggish controls, spaghetti netcode full of desync, no weapon balance at all due to ‘sandbox’ and so on and so on that almost nobody except old-time Halo fans wants to play. I said it once and I’ll say it again - Halo 4 was a step in the right direction, it might not have clicked back then, but it was what would keep Halo relevant today.
You are joking right? Halo 4 was garbage with the exception of the presentation and graphical fidelity of the Campaign.
Halo is dead because 343i took too many steps forward and transformed Halo into a souless shooter.
Halo had a great formula, a set of rules. Bungie started changing with Halo Reach and 343 picked up the worse additions and put them on steroids.
Halo 3 was the last real Halo game. Players just wanted more maps and better visuals. It was that simple, instead 343i destroyed Xbox n1 IP, it’s a crime what they did to the franchise.
343i seem to always turn into a new direction that ends up with a “Now what?” wall. Like what do the Endless have to do with anythinf? Why were they never mentioned in the lore? Why jsut bring them up when we LITERALLY have two other problems before hand that they piled over with the Forerunners, Cortana, the Banished and now the Endless?
Their story direction sucks and they cant make a conclusion.
It’s funny, that’s the polar opposite of what I want. I’ve never cared much for MP. It is a fun and novel thing to do splitscreen with friends, but to me the core has always been the story and the universe. Looks like they will be severely neglected for a while (longer.)
If the rumours are true, then this really sucks. I appreciate a lot of people love the multiplayer but for me Halo has been all about the campaign, whether single player or even better as co-op with a friend. I’ll be honest, I was quite intrigued to know where things were going, but now, I can’t be bothered with another story reset, or reboot or whatever may come next.
That said even if the rumours aren’t true, what happening this still really sucks all-round as a lot of people are out of a job; my desire for story content being small fish in the greater scheme of things.
Don’t know much about the game or tech industry but hope they are able to find places quickly.
At this point it’s not a rumor anymore. This article proves it plus so many old developers and content creators came out today confirming a lot of stuff from this article finally. Just sucks man I don’t want to lose then campaign at all.
I thought the Halo 4 campaign was pretty good. It had the exception of being an actual conclusion for Master chief and humanity. Humans finding peaking that “giant” feeling, Chief can justified being a retired veteran.
My only problem is how another extinction level event appears 4 years after the Covenant war, as well as the story direction.
“No battle royale coming to Halo Infinite, no new content coming, no new story, nothing. Literally nothing. 10 years of nothing. We were lied to. False advertisment. Scammed.”
Everybody right now
Doomer vibes aside, I hope stuff actually does come to Halo Infinite. I really don’t want it to just be exactly the same for 10 years. Please save Halo Infinite, Pierre.
