Fanbase. The people that claim to be “long time fans” or supporters of the game are the ones that are bashing it the most. You “vets” are the ones making the game seem like a terrible game constantly throwing your negatives around.
I know a game should have some constructive criticism, but you guys are outright degrading it! I go on to other game boards such as Ac3 and Bo2 and I see people sharing ideas and having general discussions. Here? “this game isn’t Halo”, “I can’t wait for it to fail”, “343 has no idea what they are doing” and so on, it’s sickening.
I tried to get people started up into a huge war over on the cod forums spreding around h4 and calling cod repetetive, what happened? People ignored my post and calmly reported it, what would happen here? Huge flame wars, honestly all I have to do is say that I think halo 4 might be the best halo to date and I would get torn apart.
A couple days ago I saw a thread that posted a guys review of H4 where, though he did make some valid points, he mostly complained about the game and said he didnt like this and that. What type of responses did it get? “FINALLY! SOME CRITICAL THINKING!” and then people went along praising this article and calling all other mostly postive reviews trash, or 343 suck ups. This is the terrible attitude of the Halo community/fanbase.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I know there are plenty of people expressing their joy of the game but I also realized that there are too many people that are just relentlessly bashing it, and stating their opinions as fact without much proof to back it up other than, “i’ve been playing sice CE!”
Whoever read this, thanks for taking the time to acutally read this, I just needed to let this out because it has just been bugging me for a while. Now I know many of you have a similar or different opinion about this so I will like to here what you think.
The Halo community used to be productive. With Reach we split larger into two groups, Competitive and Casual. Casuals were generally newcomers to the series, and in my opinion split the community. Had these newcomers not come, Competitive players wouldn’t be fighting anyone. However I think with Halo 4 catering more to bring new people in, it will only further split the community. The community used to be an addition to the games, now I really play it for the lore and gameplay.
What happened to the good ole players who liked Campaign and story more than multiplayer?

I’ve been there and there was nothing but bashing on that form.

If it’s any consolation most people on the Waypoint forums are more trolls than fans and are also a small percentage of the entire Halo fan base.
no but imagine if they made a cod game that had no iron sights and you could only aim down the hip and you jumped super high… haha trust me a lot of people are hating because of features like perks and loadouts

Many forums, especially those run by the game maker, are more harsh and less constructive. This is because some posters are desperate to be heard by an admin on here.

I have been with the series since CE and I am a little more on the casual side of things. What people really don’t realize with Reach is that it wasn’t really Bungie’s last tribute to the series, it was more of an experiment. And the results heralded the split and allowed 343 to learn from the positive and negative aspects of the game. I don’t mind that the game caters to both groups but we need to learn to live side by side because honestly, casuals have existed before Reach.
AHEM, as a halo fan from day one (i was 16 when CE dropped), your generalization that all vets are against halo 4’s new additions offends me, and possibly many others.
I actually think that was the main downfall of Reach (not really downfall, it’s a succesful and enjoyable game). A lot of people didn’t like exploring new ideas or gametypes that made Halo 2 and 3 enjoyable. You won’t see people playing Infection in Halo 2 with an “honour” system to switch teams when killed. If you suggest just a slight change in the options, even just to test them, people get aggressive because they don’t want to learn anything new.

That would be me sir glad I’m not the only one who feels this way.
A majority, perhaps. I personally have been with Halo from the first game (very close to it’s release, off by a few months,) and still love almost every bit of it. There are things that bug me (anime Halo and “Japanese” Elites,) but for the most part… Yeah, change is good.
> well they are trying to make the game casual which is dumb
they are trying to cater to both groups. But there are people who either solely want it casual or solely want it competitive. Those people are the problem.
It’s ironic that you have the name sonic and bring this up OP, because the sonic the hedgehog fan base does this ten times worse than the halo fanbase. This I’ve observed being a big fan of both
