Halo Royal game soup brew

Hey all,

Don’t usually post much at all. So the topic BR “Battle royal” soup brew. Some dislike the idea yet I am pretty open to exploring options even know I prefer good ol btb. So a while back ago I wrote up something privately about if there was going to be a BR game type. It isn’t about taking away what is the classic arena old schoolers insist on but being open to explore a separate game type. How would you build it what elements would you like to see. It’s about pouring in ideas for something to cook with. Anyways wrote this up in OneNote a while ago.
Edit
I had also did a video awhile back about it but took it down. I had brought up the use of forge tools and a monitor/ai player for building, shielding, maintenance ect to make it stand out and have a different play style. Maybe I will upload it again to youtube.

Something something royal rumble
So I was thinking about it more then kinda seeped an idea via twitter I passed it in an email.
So I was thinking since battle royal is pretty popular how could we make it more skilled base and I remembered old rainbow six black arrow weapon ladder matches. Then the idea sprung
In retrospective of just seeing my boy play fortnite and noticing things about the game mode. I did try pubg a few times so looking at those brief moments as well
There is no weapon kill skill, you can just randomly get an OP weapon and have better advantage of winning. So how could we change that. Well you don’t start with a weapon just a pick axe. Weapons are in random places or chest in a first come first served basis.
The change to the mode
Chest and no weapons start
Basic weapons placed in various areas. All chest are kill locked so you need to get kill/'s with basic weapons first to begin opening chest for better weapons. Basic weapon would be one type this could change with different games where the start weapon changes per game, one game could be pistol basic starts (same rpm/attack/Ect) another game could be basic sniper starts (same rpm/attack/Ect) Ect. Weapons could very but roll are same and style same.
To open chest 1 you would need a 1 kill. The same start weapon and changes apply per game chest 1 would have a specific weapon type same stats around rpm, attack Ect. Chest 2 would require 2 more kills with a weapon from chest 1.
Basic weapon starts 1 kill unlocks
Weapon crate/cache 1 white = 2 (crate/cache 1 weapon) kills unlocks
Chest 2 green = 3 (chest 2 weapon) kills unlocks
Chest 3 blue = 4 (chest 3 weapon kills) unlocks
Chest 4 red = 5 (chest weapon 4 kills) unlocks
Chest 5 purple = 6 (chest weapon 5 kills) unlocks
Chest 6 pink = 7 (chest weapon 6) kills unlocks
Chest 7 bronze = 8 (chest weapon 7) kills unlocks
Chest 8 copper = 9 (chest weapon 8) kills unlocks
Chest 9 silver = 10 (chest weapon 9) kills unlocks
Chest 10 gold = 11 (chest weapon 10) kills unlocks
Chest 11 platinum = 12 (chest weapon 11) kills unlocks
Chest 12 diamond
As for med kits and shields something similar to laddering up (speed and quality) especially for team/squad based matches healing team mates/ squad members. Shield maintaining/maintenance, battery/core replacements.
The thing here (goal) how to make things skilled based and competitive again. By laying an equal playing field no easy advantages everyone has same starting chance but it takes skill to climb to top. Weapon damage does increase with next level weapon crate/cache making it that way because it wouldn’t be right to have a basic weapon do same amount of damage like a pink or diamond weapon. This is where team/squad play can be huge two basic weapons can do the damage of next level weapon cache. Team work to make the dream work right. Then implement the ranking system a good one to do this plot some servers to localize. As skill gaps grow to match players from east and west have them play on midwest server. For US 48 maybe 5 sever zones. That way lag is a little bit more distributed between players and their zones once the skill gap grows. I would say 15 US 48 dedicated server zones would be optimal for player experiences helps matching player ping rates last thing people or what we would want to here is lag and ping issues botching (SBMM) skill based match making.

Different mechanics

Squad play
3 spartan players 1 “Monitor/AI” (Fourth player)
All 4 are critical roles and benefit each other.
The three Spartans have the weapons yet must also protect fourth player (Monitor) as well as the Monitor helps the 3 Spartans. “That cave is not a natural formation” weapon cache occupy to take control then loot it. Move on. Mixing of territories flag/zone captures, Also taking a bit of that forge into the mix Monitor places protective barrier or other forge objects or tools but in limiting way. The monitor player has different tools at it’s disposal as well as different scanning visual capabilities.

How would you brew a battle royal?

You say Halo won’t survive or grow without battle royal, then lets see you brew the battle you want for it. This is how it can start but you need to be cool and collective and creative show them what you want it all starts with ideas to build with. So instead of saying it needs it to flourish put in the work and show them what you want.

It takes bees to create a hive to make the honey

Halo eventually spawned up Halo wars but what will it take to spawn Halo Royal as separate game like Halo wars is a separate game from the original. It seems people really want it but the question is how bad do they want it because it will take a lot of work and effort. This could also be opportunity to not just have our typical Spartans in the royal, it is an opportunity to add other types of playable species from the Halo universe in it. Just saying it takes creative minds to build something fresh and not your typical battle royal.

Just thought I toss that out there before this sinks into forum void.
