I am currently GMing an RP group and I’ve got everything nicely set up but wanted to see if anybody had any nice ideas that I can inflict on the players or would be cool to see?
General set up just to show where the players are atm. Basically just summarizing what happened in the first session -
Three Players -
Banished Captain - Male Brute
Banished Mercenary - Female Elite
Zealous Pilgrim - Male Elite
Okay, so the Zealous Pilgrim survived the Flood attack on High Charity and was horrifically scarred by his escape; one of his arms being pulled off which has been replaced by a bionic. He fled with a Forerunner Relic which he has kept safe and hidden away on a remote space station which precariously floats over a black hole. He is a true believer and thinks the Gods sparred him in his moment of peril.
Yet one day, the Zealous Pilgrim was praying before the inert relic when it burst into life and burned the co-ordinates of a planet into his retina. He now believes that he must walk a holy journey and meet his Gods. (Honestly, the guy doesn’t even play Halo but he was just such a treat. Completely rolled with this idea. :D)
Meanwhile both our Banished characters were ordered by their Chieftain, one of Atriox chosen, to find this creature and return with the artifact. They set off via Phantom and board the station covertly.
However, the humans also seek the relic. A fireteam of ODST’s enter the zealots apartment and escape with the relic. However our zealot hears them. Stealthily he knocks one out and then rushes into the corridor with an energy sword. He kills both panicked ODST’s, but the relic is lost to him.
Still with the co-ordinate, he tries to meet with a friend he believes is affiliated with the Storm Covenant. He takes the co-ordinate off him, but refuses to take him because they don’t trust him as he is not of their holy brotherhood and…unstable. The zealot is outraged by this as he believes it is his holy quest and that he will not be denied.
As he exists the church our Captain and Mercenary attack him and the brute beats the elite into unconsciousness with his fists before dragging him unceremoniously off.
They return with the captive with their chieftain who is very unimpressed by them not having the artifact. Realizing that, perhaps these beasts can be the instrument of his holy journey, the zealot says he can navigate them to the world they seek. The Brute accepts, taking a cruiser.
It is a world of lush tropical jungles and oceans teaming with life. Their scanners and communications are being scrambled by something planetside. They cannot detect any other ships in the area. So they make planetfall with two liches, four spirits and around 15 phantoms. This flotilla breaks through the thick storm wracked clouds. As they enter, they spot a massive Forerunner facility which towers over the jungle wrapped mountains. They head towards it. The Zealot is in awe of this holy place. The two Banished characters constantly belittle his faith and brute trades racial insults.
Then one of the Phantoms explodes. The flight of craft watch in horror as a two hundred foot humanoid construct rises up to fight them. Its segmented chrome plates locking together and forming a metallic skull face that burns like a furnace. One by one the craft are brought down, ripped apart by singularity beams or hardlight rounds, it breaks the craft apart with its bear hands and sends them crashing into the jungles below.
Our Zealot exclaims joy as the godless Banished were struck down. Angered at this, our Brute captain kicks him out of the Phantom but the Zealot, still laughing like a madman, grabs onto its plasma cannon turret.
At this point, the construct grabs the Phantom and lifts it up above its head. Brutes tumble and fall out of it only to be incinerated in its furnace like face. Our mercenary scrambles over the Banished, using them as purchase to escape, knocking one to his doom before gracefully leaping out the other side and swan diving into a nearby lake.
The Zealot is thrown free of the Phantom and clangs off the machines thumb. Knocked out cold he also plummets into the water.
Our Captain collapses and grabs onto the Phantoms railings, dangling precariously, before the machine discards the machine. As he staggers to his feet, he watches his soldiers trampled underfoot or flee like wicker candles through the brush. He glares in rage into the hollow orange eyes of the machine and swears vengeance on this robot.
Later, one of his handful of surviving pack members staggers to him and falls to one knee, holding up the dead Chieftains hammer. Our captain takes up the weapon and swears his blood oath.
Our mercenary takes charges of a panicked group of elites. She leads them through the swamps to try and find the rest of the Banished. Here, the machine reappears and try to hide as it passes. It releases a flock of Watchers that scan the forest. They do not understand what it is and when it finds them the machine seems to scan them and leave. Then, a Knight bursts into existence in front of them. Two of her warriors are cut down as plasma fires glances off its hide. She decides to run, he second in tow. The Knight leaps up and falls upon the other elite who lags behind. She runs impossibly fast, remembering her days fleeing the predators of Sanghelios before launching herself off a waterfall to escape the Knight.
Meanwhile, the zealot awakens in a pool of floating debri, believing that once again the gods have sparred him. He swims ashore and finds a Brute trapped under a wrecked spirit. The monster roars in rage and curses the zealot for leading them to this place. Mocking the brute he takes his energy sword and drives it through his skull.
As this goes on, our brutes encounter a UNSC fireteam by a warthog in the jungle. Clambering the trees they leap down amongst them. The captain is a force of nature, his gravity hammer flipping their warthog and killing their leader. Only when one of his men drops with a smoking crater does he see the Cyclops come crashing through the bamboo. Going berserk he throws himself at the mech and incredibly prevails though he is on the brink of death. Pulling the canopy off he brutally kills the helpless man inside.
Taking a prisoner and interrogating him they learn that the humans brought a cruiser here but it was shot down by the construct and that they are now scattered across this world. He is kept as a prisoner and the one legged man is lashed on the back of one of the Brutes. A Reclaimer might come in useful.
They stumble into the mercenary and both of them see a Storm Covenant vessel emerge from the clouds and start to land its soldiers. They realize that they will need to find a Forerunner communications array to alert their ship and call for help.
Our Zealot finds a brute driven blood mad by his ordeal. He fights the animal and eventually kills it. As he stops he sees that he is surrounded by a dozen lithe female elites with strange chrome armor. One approaches him and asks why he is here. After explaining that he really is “on a mission from god” they take him to their sanctuary which is a crashed Assault Carrier that has lain in the jungle for a 1000 years (just sounded cool not even sure how old Covenant actually is) and now serves as their city. He explains who the banished are and how they are enemies of the faith; as well as the state of the galaxy. They are shocked by his tale of how the Arbiter betrayed the Prophets, as did Atriox and these Brutes.
