It could only be a chunk of a ring trapped in Requiems gravity. To place a ring near a shield world would be kinda silly wouldnt it?
Also, a shield world is technically inside a 4 dimensional slipspace bubble, could have been transported from the one we already blew up.

I don’t think it is near Requiem, I might be installation 05 (or another one but probably that one) and that the Didact might have used one of the Forerunner teleports to wipe out Humanity. Also the shield worlds are fully protected from the Halo Array so it wouldn’t matter where it was located in relation the Requiem.

Another one of my suspicions confirmed. If it’s fired, I called it.

Prolly Installation 03. Halsey is there in the books and the UNSC have a station. Since we know Cortana is deteriorating and part of this game’s story is trying to save her it would make sense for Chief to go after Halsey since Cortana is based off of her brain scan.
Also 049 Abject Testament is the monitor of Installation 03 and has a role in the Anniversary terminals. Since they said the terminals all play a part in Halo 4 I’d say that’s more evidence towards Installation 03. That said, I wouldn’t mind a return to Installation 05 and Installation 07 has a lot of importance in the books.

I meant 03, my bad. If you have watched they Halo: CEA terminals then you will notice that the other major caretaker (343 Guilty Spark’s orange ‘friend’) lives and watched over 03. I just figured that 343i wouldn’t throw that away, but it could be any of the others.
However, as someone else noted in this post, 05 and 07 are depicted in the books.

I was right, it is a Halo Ring.
That Halo Ring is the one by the facility that has the Composer. I recognized it, was helping a friend of mine finish that level last night on Legendary.

I believe they also said which installation it was during dialogue with the scientist lady
