I made a mistake with the ESports post. I’ll make up for it with this. To me, Reach’s weapons were the best in the series. Sadly some of the guns in it were ruined by bloom, and the Plasma Repeater was a poor inclusion. Although I’ll take the Repeater over the Pulse Carbine. The Shotgun in Reach was probably the worst in the series, with such poor range and accuracy. The Magnum wasn’t as strong as CE’s, but it was better than Halo 3’s. The Needler was less effective in Reach than previous Halo games, and the Needle Rifle was sadly affected. Even with these flaws, the weapons themselves were very cool. See, the Covenant guns were no longer Covenant equivalents of the human ones, but their own thing. The Beam Rifle was now the Force Rifle which was more like the lightning gun from Quake, but with a scope. Instead of the Carbine, there was the Needle Rifle which was a bigger version of the Needler with a scope. Then there’s the Concussion Rifle which functions like the Brute Shot, but is still cool. A sweet arsenal that could have been tweaked better. 343 could have done that with Halo 4, but sadly they only brought a few of Reach’s weapons back with the rest replaced by their Halo 2 counterparts…which meant the Covenant once again had equivalents of human weapons. Instead of doing that, they could have brought all of Reach’s guns back except the Repeater and make them better. The Force Rifle was fun to use. Infinite took the Halo Reach route in its arsenal, but the weapons aren’t perfect and need heavy tweaking. Maybe they can bring Reach’s weapons back? Even as far as replacing the Pulse with the Repeater.
