Since Halo reach will soon be able to be played on Microsoft’s latest hardware, it stands to question whether or not a Xbox one only update might be in the games future. It is a possibility since it is a halo game and the extra horsepower the Xbox one has could be harnessed to do allow some improvements to be made to it. They wouldn’t be anything drastic like a anniversary graphics overhaul or a majorly updated forge mode, but maybe a few updates and tweaks to the game here and there. Here are a few things I would personally wish to see and I fully believe that Microsoft could with some effort implement these improvements to Halo Reach on the Xbox one.
60fps and 1080p unlock: 343 has done most of the work on this already with Halo the MCC collection and this would probably be easy to implement with a small title update. They already know the halo reach engine inside and out as well as the other halo engines, so a fix/unlock for 60fps and 1080p could(probably) be done with relative ease. From what I understand, the reason Halo Reach only runs at 30fps is because there is a sort of Vsync that keeps it locked at 30fps(if I understand it correctly, it was explained in an interview with the MCC developers about the games development) And since their done with Halo 5 guardians, they could probably put some people to work on it. I believe this to be a relatively likely to happen out of everything I’m going to suggest. Halo reach at 60fps 720p:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrheGjGWOjw - Lighting engine update: Like they did in the MCC collection, they could potentially include the updated lighting engine that has been used there. It would probably take some more time to work on because Halo Reach uses its own personal modified engine like every other halo and would probably require some tweaking and play testing in order to get bugs out and get the new lighting to run as smoothly as possible. I could imagine this being done, but it would take longer since the MCC lighting engine would have to be modified specifically for Halo Reach. Its possible, but a little unlikely. - Halo Reach Forge mode Update: Since the Xbox one has considerably more power on tap than the Xbox 360 did when Halo Reach was released back in 2010. Its possible that 343 could reduce the restrictions on how many items you can place within forge mode and allow forgers to pursue bigger creations within Halo Reach’s forge mode. This update would probably take alot more time since there would be more coding to go through(although potentially Certain Affinity might be better handling this since they did most of the work on Halo Reach’s forge mode as I recall) as well as play testing and tweaking. Most of the work would probably have to be to see how much Reach’s forge could manage while remaining stable and running smoothly. This could be done, but I don’t know if microsoft would consider it worth doing with Reach(considering this would probably take a decent amount of time to test and work out to 100%)Thats all I got, what do the rest of you think about Halo Reach getting an update on Xbox one? what do you think of seeing the fore mentioned improvements to the game with the Xbox one?

Its also a major xbox exclusive if that counts for anything. wouldn’t be surprised if we do end up seeing the 60fps/1080p for it as well as perhaps other major Xbox 360 titles.

…by never working with it? Just how delusional are you, if MCC proved something is that 343 don’t care about preserving original Halo experience, all they care about is buzzwords like 60fps and 1080p. Who cares that sensitivity with auto-aim is now acting wrong, who cares that players can die from a simple jump, who cares that you can see trough walls and million other things all because the games were never meant to run at 60fps and to change it you have to do a lot more than change one setting but for 343 it is one setting, because they don’t care, only buzzwords that sell the product matter.
And you are a fool who thinks with buzzwords too. How 60fps gonna do Halo any good? Halo was always a game where it was hard to aim, it took skill, and it was a developer’s desision, just look at zero aim aassist sniper rifles, 60fps will take a HUGE portion of that away, a huge skill gap component of something that made Halo great just out of the window because idiots like you love buzzwords so much. Nice. Go idiots, go 343!
Ehhhh I don’t really see that happening as I don’t think they could do anything to a 360 game being played on the One. If I remember correctly, the way they do it is almost like a simulation of the game, and you can’t really change a simulation if it has to use the original 360 settings. So to do that I would think they would have to go back on the hardware/software they used to make Halo Reach, which in fact wasn’t even made by 343, it was made by Bungie so I don’t even know how that would work, but as good as that would be to see, I don’t think it’ll ever happen unless they decide to anniversary it.

Actually several games on the Xbox 360 run at 60fps already, so it isn’t out of the question to see a 60fps and 1080p for xbox one update for Reach. Also, Emulators are capable of going beyond the original hardwares performance. For example, if you run an SNES emulator or GBA emulator on your pc, it is doing the same thing as the Xbox one and creating a virtual console that thinks its running on the (GBA, DS, GameCube, SNES, etc) original hardware when it really isn’t(in a few cases atleast). With the higher power of the pc that runs the Emulator, the games that are being played on it are actually capable of being played at an accelerated smoother fps(I’ve used an fps counter with my emulators, It runs at a smooth 60fps for the SNES, GBA, and DS emulator that I tested) as well as supporting higher resolutions than the original game were capable of supporting.
But I do agree that the Lighting and Forge updates are highly unlikely, but its not entirely undo-able. Yes Halo Reach was made by bungie, but you have to remember that 343 made Halo 4 using a slightly modified Halo Reach engine(Just Like halo Reach used a modified Halo 3 engine and Halo 3 Used a very highly modified Halo 2 engine(Halo 5 guardians and the Anniversary editions are the only games to technically use a entirely different engine(Guardians was a brand new engine built for Xbox one and the Anniversary engines were a custom built engine that utilized a modified version of the original game engine and a new engine purpose built by Sabre Interactive)). So 343 probably would have a good idea of what to do to get Halo Reach to run at 60fps and 1080p(Although the Textures would only be in 720p).

Halo reach doesn’t really have motion blur, its some sort of ghost frame effect that simulates motion blur, you can see it in certain cutscenes and its looks quite bad at times. I really wish they had fixed that when reach was still being supported.

hopefully soon. I hope they do atleast make the 60fps and 1080p even if its just for halo reach. its an Extremely exceptional game and I think it deserves it.
I’m playing Halo Reach on my Xbox One and for every mission I complete I only get 60cR for it. I can even spend 5-6 hours on firefight and only get 60cR. Why is that?
