After almost passing out due to the sheer frustration of this game I have found that there is something very wrong with the theatre mode in Reach on Xbox One. When viewing a game that has been saved into ‘local files’ whenever you try to record a segment from that film a message box comes up and says that there has been an error then quits theatre mode. The same thing happens when you try to rewind and clip and then even sometimes it will just happen randomly anyway. This is very frustrating as I like to save cool things that happen in game. Before I sue 343 for giving me broken backwards compatibility I am appealing to the masses on this issue, thanks.
I’m having the same issue. I’m trying to make a machinima short with Halo: Reach on the Xbox One. A few days ago I tried to film some shots, when I tried to press back I would be given a “Film Error”, and then I would be forced out of the film. At this moment I’m trying to film those same shots I intended to do days ago, and simply playing the film I get the same “Film Error”. This is ridiculously irritating, I have yet to make it far enough into my film to get any footage. This is an issue that simply must be dealt with, Halo: Reach is still full of aspiring machinima directors, and this issue had made theater mode impossible to work with.

It’s the fault of the emulator on the X1, not anything that 343 has done. I’m not even sure how much involvement 343 had in this, sure it was primarily the Xbox team running the backwards compatability program
That cant be good, then again these problems are to be expected i guess.
I am also getting the same issue…actually Im also having another issue. alot of my saved clips are getting corrupted and i can no longer view them. “This film is no longer valid. it may be damaged or i may be from a different version of halo: reach” this is the message i keep getting. i dont understand the different version of reach part but my stuff must be getting damaged. this never happened to me until after the halo reach xbox one update. any one else getting there -Yoink- damaged for no reason??
I am also having the same issue. I tried to record in theater for macinima and it pops up say an error has occurred while playing the clip
Can someone actually fix this rather than saying “I got the same problem” I hate going back to the 360 just to record footage
im getting this issue also, ive also tried to download the file again through fileshare, and still doesnt seem to work, maybe we should just wait until there is another update on xbl that fixes this, the issue occurs at 2:28-2:29 on the theater
Same How can I record any clips I get when they keep getting corrupted. Does anyone know a solution or someone that does?
my halo reach xbox one, does not start
“The file is not valid” I get that on every single damn clip. Even the ones I made about ten seconds ago! This is -Yoink-
I hate to be this kind of guy but it’s working on mine. Just booted up a film from over three months ago flawlessly. Game DVR clip of it soon.
Update: Viktor's Xbox Halo: Reach clip 22197553. Find your Xbox clips on GamerDVR.com
Theater told me a film could not be watched, literally after I just played that game. Sucks.
Has anyone figured out how to fix it yet?
Really this bug probley won’t be fixed because of 343 being focused on future halo games such as halo wars 2 and probley working on things for halo 6 in the near future 2018
Same deal here, just played a game and wanted to watch the film really quick and it says it’s corrupt.
Okay, so IF you can get the film to play, do not try to record it using the theater’s record feature. Just play the thing as you would, then record it using the Xbox One’s DVR record feature. Again, that’s a big “if” since theater is jacked. Just make sure you set the DVR to record the correct length of time you want or get it started before you play the clip. I have the new Xbox One update (preview member here) and there’s a cool new feature where you can do that without going to settings. When you bring up the “hit ‘x’ to record” screen, you have the option to hit the menu button and tell it whether you want 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 1 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes … then you go to that studio app and edit it.
Is there any solution yet? If not thats an extreme upset b/c there is a whole page about this problem thats been up for more than a year now!
I have found the issue why this is causing the effect of the Theater Mode Issue!
It was affected by the new update, 6 months ago about October - November 2016.
The patch had side effects towards the Xbox One’s console unit in which case affecting not only theater mode but, Halo Reach as well…
I haven’t found a solution yet, but to be understandable there are methods of still recording the film you have in your local files, unfortunately to play
some of the clips that are yet unavailable for you, might as well put it on your file share and set course through to the Xbox 360 and record from there. That is if you
still have a 360 copy or halo reach just to be sure.
I’ll let you know whenever there’s a solution or fix to the patch itself. I know how you guys feel about this and I feel the same but for now, we wait…

Alrighty I have experimented on this problem.
I have no solution what-so-ever…
I have tried going back to the Xbox 360, and none of my films from Xbox One were there.
I have tried putting my console in offline mode, and there same issue occurred.
I have tried to catch the error before it would pop up on my screen.
I have restarted my Xbox multiple times, and it didn’t work.
I keep getting the “Error, Error has occurred.” Then the film ends.
Has anyone figured out on how to fix this issue?
That would be great.
