Halo Reach won a bunch of E3 awards too.

This thread is just meant to serve as a reality check.

During Comic Con 2010, Halo Reach was demoed during its panel, and after every feature, like the guy hitting RB and letting a hologram out, the crowd went OMG WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! YES!! etc, etc. Liked I said, every feature. Just watch it - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwEnWELpGg8

Secondly, During E3, Halo Reach won a bunch of awards just like Halo 4 did, maybe even getting more tbh.

Breakfast Menu, what’s your point?

That even with all the awards and fan excitement, Black Ops outsold Reach on Xbox alone, and stole a lot of Reach’s population. Reach went from being played by 500-600,000 players at a time, to like 80,000. Bungie then had to change the population counter to show how many players played the whole 24 hours.

My question is do you guys HONESTLY believe that Halo 4 will be any different?

Sure it’ll sell well, be all the talk during its first two weeks, but what about afterwards? Once the game comes out, I see the forums flooding with excitement saying “BEST GAME EVER” (just like Halo Reach), and more, but 3 weeks later we will see:

“Campaign wasn’t that great”
“Reach just felt better”
“Multiplayer is boring”
“Nerf __________”
“Going back to Reach”

the list goes on.

All the threads I see talking about how Halo 4 is beating Black Ops 2 in pre-orders are laughable. Halo 4 was announced over a year ago while Bo2 was announced 2 months ago. Of course Halo 4 will have more pre-orders…for now at least. I just wish some of you guys will wake up from your dream that Halo 4 will outsell a Call of Duty game. Won’t happen. I honestly don’t think Halo 4 will be able to keep a good population that rivals BO2 or be able to stay relevant after this year.

Look, every Halo game has had hate and I don’t see Halo 4 being any different.

However, I don’t need the forums to tell me if the game is bad or not.

Guess what? I actually liked Reach! And I didn’t care about all the hate it got-I just continued playing!

If the same happens in Halo 4, I’ll just do the same as what happened with Reach

Boooooooooo.

Get off the stage.

Honestly, I would go back to Halo: 3 before I went back to Reach. Halo: Reach is such a chore for me to get on it it seems. I really hope that Halo: 4 is amazing and gives me as much incentive to play as Halo: 3 did.

There’s no need for that.

I loved Reach also. This thread was to remind people that every aspect of Halo 4 that is being oooohhhh and ahhhhhed was similar to Reach. People jumped for joy with praise when they revealed Armor Lock, but hated it when it came out.

People are in favor of the specializations, new armor abilities, and loadouts, but I guarantee you once the game comes out, it will get so much hate.

I know it will get hate-and I’m ready for the storm…ready 4 months in advance because that’s how this community is.

However, I’m gonna play the crap outta Halo 4 I can garuantee that.

No I don’t think so. Out of the games I’ve played at RTX, it was much better than Reach. You really have to try it before you say anything.

I’ve played it for about 4 hours at this year’s e3 events. People who played Reach before it launched considered it the best Halo ever. Now look at it.

Every franchise goes through the same cycle. Rave at first, complain later and say how much better the previous game was.

But you’re not taking into account something. The way it feels. What’s one of the biggest complaints about Reach? That it DOES NOT FEEL like a Halo game. What has nearly everyone who has played Halo 4 so far said? Halo 4 FEELS LIKE a Halo game. That is going to make a HUGE difference in how popular the game is after it’s been out for a year.

Halo 4 seems to be bringing in a mix of new things to keep the franchise fresh, along with some old classic things that the fans have always loved. I’ve heard quite a few times from people who have tested the game that it feels like they’ve taken all the best things from Halo’s past and mixed them into one awesome experience.

I honestly don’t see Halo 4 going down the same path as Reach did. It looks SO much better than Reach.

Fair enough that is isn’t NECESSARY, but how many times are you going to entertain this topic of discussion?

Hundred more times?

Thousand?

Million?

This topic, on these forums, is constant and PERMANENT, so it may as well at least be frowned upon when it occurs.

And frowning upon this is my knee jerk reaction.

it has Visr in it the last game to have visr in it was odst and i loved it

Reality checks only work when you apply yourself to more than one reality. Sure, Reach sucked despite a good E3 showing. It was very much a game about presentation without much supporting that. That said, Halo 3 also had a good showing at E3, as did Halo 2. Did they suck in the same way that Halo Reach did? Certainly not, nor did they excell in quite the same way either because they were different games releasing into different social environments.

What we have with you is simple pessimism. A looks like B, so it’s probably going to suck just as hard! Not true (by that I mean not realistic) because failure is very much dependent on what you do, where, and when. Even if Halo 4 is a picture perfect copy of Reach (which it isn’t numbnuts) even that is no gaurantee for more -Yoink- to come if in the intervening years our perceptions and standards have changed instead (for the worse I might add) to better accommodate what didn’t work for bungie in 2010. And considering what else has been popular since then I wouldn’t say that’s a bad bet to make.

I really did enjoy Reach, but I do agree with the OP. The fact is that there were alot of great things about Reach, but there were some things that were TERRIBLE about Reach as well. I think there was more good than bad, but that those bad things played a large factor in the game and were then hard to overlook. I actually just made a thread about something that I think could REALLY help H4 at the beginning of its life and in the long run. You guys should check it out and let me know what you think.

I can’t remember Halo: Reach having more awards, I mean after looking at this

anyone with healthy ears and eyes should be able to notice the epicness and the evolution from all previous Halos to Halo 4.

Btw, the assassinations were pretty much the only new gameplay scenes at SDCC, and just look at the reactions!

Pre-orders:

Halo 4, 17 weeks from launch - well over 400,000.
Halo Reach, 17 weeks from launch - well under 200,000.

Just thought I’d add that.

Is that from VGChartz? I forget what site it was on, but Reach had way more by that time point.

Just wanted to let you know that I haven’t played the game yet…so…yeah. I don’t really care if H4 doesn’t outsell a cod game, I just need enough players to dominate. And plus, I play cod too. Halo 4 sucks? I have other games to go to.

Halo 4 pre orders > Halo Reach pre orders

Halo 4 has twice as much as Reach.
