Well, there’s a thread saying why it’s the best, I’ll say why it’s the worst.
Campaign:
• Blows a hole in established canon. Master Chief, Captain Keyes, Cortana, and the Pillar of Autumn were all in space during the entirety of the fall of Reach.
• Introduces flat characters that do not evolve throughout the story.
• Produces long, boring campaign mission with little exciting vehicle combat.
• The main character has no personality. The voice actor actually sounds bored during all his lines.
• The color palette is filled with boring grays and browns that contradict Halo’s colorful nature.
• The NPCs are completely useless. The Marines die instantly and Noble Team are just invincible marines with a different skin.
• Overall bad plot and completely understates the damage done to Reach.
Firefight:
• Removed the survival aspect of the gametype.
• Let us have infinite ammo and bottomless clips to mow down hoards of enemies and boost rank.
• Turned the gametype into nothing more than target practice.
• Provided no decent maps with good strongholds for mounting defenses.
Multiplayer:
• Completely threw out established Halo core gameplay.
• Added a bloom system that destroys any form of a skill gap.
• Threw out competitive ranking and added a halfway done progression system.
• Added a health system that didn’t work with the game.
• Reduced run speed to accommodate sprint.
• Reduced jump height and makes the game much less vertical.
• Weakened the vehicles to the point where it’s pointless to even attempt getting in a Warthog.
• Replaced okay equipment system with terrible unbalanced preset perk system (armor abilities).
• Introduced loadouts which destroys Halo’s concept of starting off on equal footing.
• Added a ridiculous amount of strafe acceleration making it impossible to strafe in battles with precision weapons.
• Added tons of new armor, but none that are particularly good looking.
• Left several fan favorite gametypes out at release (VIP, Alpha Zombies).
• Gave no incentive to play Arena, driving away competitive audiences.
• Ripped maps from Campaign causing them to be unbalanced and just terrible overall in a multiplayer environment.
Forge:
• Completely ignored all of Reach’s maps and gave us one to forge on.
• Gave us nothing but billions of identical gray pieces to use in construction of our maps.
Custom Games:
• Added a progression system (cR) that destroyed any motivation to play custom games.
• Gave us very limited options and hard to understand and set up gametypes.
Theater:
• Removed ability to watch films with friends.
• Made no improvement over theater mode introduced in Halo 3.
Now obviously I missed some stuff, but I think you guys get the gist. 343i should not make Halo 4 like Halo: Reach. It’s core gameplay should be based off Halo 2 and Halo 3.
Noble 6 is designed to be YOU! His voice is supposed to be very generic and you can customize him to the greatest extent because according to every single person’s copy of the game, that person who owns it IS NOBLE 6!
Oh and, Master Chief’s storyline was obviously the best, and I know he’s the silent type but… His character was pretty flat as well, but we are just so mesmorized by the sheer amazingness of the games as a whole we can’t pick at characters.

The thing is it’s like they tried to give Noble 6 a personality, but at the same time tried to make him you. It doesn’t work that way, it has to be one or the other.

really? That multiplayer was the most diverse ever, and the forge made the game much more versatile and could be used to make free maps for the public. Custom games were even more fun because of the improved forge. I have to refute this portion.
> Agree with most of what you said, tho how does it blow a hole in canon?
It doesn’t, we just have a classic Reach-hater that cries in a corner just because Reach isn’t EXACTLY like the previous ones.
This reminds me of Star Wars trilogy prequel haters.
O NOs!!1!1!! IT R NOT JUST LEIK TEH PREVIUS INSTALMENTS IN TEH SERIES!1!! IMMA THROE A FIT!
Oh and the cutscenes, graphics, frame-rate, bugs-rate, glitches-rate, friendly AIs, Forge capabilities (tools, number of objects) are just a few better things about Reach.
Still lots of flaws. But I hate these Reach-haters. Open your damn mind.
> Agree with most of what you said, tho how does it blow a hole in canon?
The Fall of Reach, is a wayyy better read than Halo: Reach is… a game. Of course a novel will always be better than a movie or game (IMO) but, they could have at least USED it.

I completely agree with every one of these points, especially the first one. However, the female voice actor for Noble Six is really good.

You just summarized everything I hate about this game in a way I never could. Bravo!
EDIT: By the way, it’s a good thing Reach was just a spin-off.

It was bad…
And no one plays custom games except on a blue moon.
