Halo: Reach Title Update-Yeah it's old news

So, because I’m a noob, i just now read what the Halo: Reach Title Update did.

Preliminary judgment: I think it was a bad idea to change the game that was already great.

-Shield damage bleedthrough-
honestly, this makes no sense.I played halo 3 and it worked back then, but it just doesn’t seem right with Reach. With the return of health in Reach, this is utterly pointless.

-Armor Lock ‘Energy Transfer’-
AL was meant to be a way to jump behind cover in an open plain. 343 has basically made it into an overshield. Overshields you pick up, they are strategically located around the map to give you an advantage. Armor Lock is with your from spawn time to death; it gives you an overshield that really doesn’t do a thing. While the title update was supposed to keep armor lock from being abused that much, and to speed up the game, to me, it just sped up the slow down… if that makes sense. Solution to armor lock issues that is better than this, get good at the game. “Oh no! An armor lock dude is about to take down my shields what do I do?” -.- Get away from him…

-Nerfing Active Camo-
I don’t think anyone had a problem with it. It was severely nerfed already from the previous Halo games and to me it was perfect.

-Uber Pistol-
It’s fun to occasionally load up Halo: CE and derp around with the pistol, but giving , even if it’s a small upgrade, those properties to the Reach pistol doesn’t seem right.

-Sword Parrying-
Removing this was a HUGE mistake. It took an incredible amount of skill to perform this feat, but when you did, you could defend yourself from the guy who has the sword. The only defense players have now is to A) Stand there and wait for death B) Sprint away delaying death or C) Use the shotgun they probably don’t have.

Aftermath judement: No. Just… No

For the Haters:
Yes I said I was a noob for not paying attention. I knew there was a title update, I just chose not to read about it. I watched a video that reference the Title Update many a time, so I looked it up. I did not like what I saw. I simply wanted to voice my complaints about it. So for the haters that will inevitably hate on me… just leave the page. Seriously…

Everything you mentioned was remedied because of the public voice, so no, you are not going to have people agreeing with you too much here. The only crime was how late they decided to implement these changes.

I will comment on your armor lock argument, however. Armor lock is the worst piece of -Yoink- to ever be implemented in to the Halo series. It is not a skilled defense mechanism, it is a cop out. There is no skilled strategy behind smashing X when your shields are low and waiting for your teammates to come save you.

Also, Halo 4 is being released less than a day, so you and I have both wasted our time even discussing this.

TU does not contain bleedthrough. I was violently against TU, when the took it out… TU is pretty awesome now.

Can’t tell if this is a troll or not. I disagree with pretty much every point that was brought up.

However you are entitled to your opinion no matter how much I disagree with it.

At the time, I was divided on the update. It was good to see camo nerfed a tad, and I am more of a distance player so the bleed through arguments did not bother me much. The 3 shot pistol was a bit of nostalgia thrown into Reach after CE:A released, confined to the Anniversary playlists, so I’m not sure why anyone would be bothered by that. And as for armor lock, I initially used it when I started playing reach but trained myself out of it when I realized it was holding me back in terms of map movement and flexibility. It has a place in big team and invasion, for defense against vehicles, but everywhere else it should not be there. It’s enough to make you tear your hair out when you face a team of 4 armor lockers.

But it’s a little late to worry about Reach’s settings, unfortunately… hopefully the game’s playlists get a little love in the months after Halo 4 launches though.

> This didn’t take ‘skill’ to pull off, it was purely connection based and luck, it only takes ‘skill’ to pull off on a LAN game and even then, it is a stupid mechanic, blocking pure energy with your arm, how does that make sense?
