we have to earn credits to rank up and be able to buy/unlock the armour so for when we complete the campaign we have other things to keep up playing the game
I’d rather avoid the Credit system, and give more reason to go and complete commendations by rewarding armor to players for doing something other than just accumulate game time.

i agree, there are so many ways to earn armors, helmets and (in case of warzone) loadouts. but i belive its not going to happen, microtransactions are here to stay.
I think they should make unlocking armor just like Halo 3. For example if you wanted the Hayabusa helmet, you had to collect all 13 skulls in the campaign, If you wanted Recon, you had to complete all the Vidmaster achievements, If you wanted EOD, you had to complete the campaign on Legendary, etc.
Using Commendations and Achievements to unlock armor would be cool. Even have weekly challenges that unlock rare stylistic pieces.
My opinion the Reach Credit system would be a nicer way to do micro-transactions than loot boxes. 343 could do what Rockstar did with GTA Online for pay real money for x amount of in-game credits. You can use the commendation system to earn more credits and lock off some armors, nameplates, or other cosmetics to achievements. Then a number of daily and weekly challenges that earn a decent amount of credits. I would say this is the middle ground where people can earn credits and unlock some of the Iconic armors viva achievements. 343 could add more armors and other cosmetics and they could in theory (going off GTA Online sales) fund free map packs so it doesn’t split the player base. This system also gives incentive for 343 to make good armors/cosmetics and allow large amount of customization for players.
Personally I rather not have a micro-transaction system at all so modders can mod in cool things in custom games and non-matchmaking game modes.
I prefer Reach’s credit system since, in theory, it allowed players to chase after what armor they wanted and unlock it by playing the way they want to. Personally, I like it better when we choose armor because we like it and not because of the “prestige” that comes with having rare armor. Though we could probably do both, have credits for standard armor and vidmaster challenges for the really exquisite armor.
Way better than halo 5’s Req system for sure, sure it’d probably take the same amount of time and grinding but at least you actually know what your getting instead of praying to RNGesus in a Gambling system.
Generally speaking, yes, the Reach system would be preferred. Being able to pick and choose what you want is always going to be better than just gambling on it.
That being said, I felt that the Reach system could also be a chore to grind. I don’t think being able to properly express yourself through customization should be limited by how many more hours one player can put in compared to another.
Aside from some specific variants for set milestones or achievements, I think all the basics variants should be relatively easy to obtain if you only ever had one set you wanted and focus exclusively on that.
if we get the helmet attachments again, I would like to see all attachment available with all helmets. it was annoying in reach where certain attachments were only available to certain helmets
I think it should be a mix of Halo 3 and Halo Reach’s systems. The Halo Reach credit system should be the way to level up and buy pieces of armour. But there should be a few pieces in there that require you to get certain achievements to unlock.
I Like how in 4 you had to earn certain medals to unlock certain armors.
