I’m tired of the people saying that as long as there is enough people to play I’m fine. Or, saying that there are too many games out right now for halo reach to have a high population. Halo would still rival call of duty in population if it was on the quality level of halo 3. People didn’t get tired of halo. They got tired of reach. It took me around a half year of denial to realize how bad reach was. Halo fell of the top of the mountain with the release of halo reach. Halo 4 is going to have to be a hell of a game to climb out of the whole reach dug for the franchise. I’m sick of these people on the forums trying to glorify a game that was a failure. I have no games to occupy my time and people on here say their are too many distractions from halo. The game is a fairly good game. There aren’t any skillful games out right now. So, if you are a skil-first gamer I could understand you still playing the game. But, compared to what halo has formerly offered it isn’t close to the same level.
Reach sold just fine. It just wasn’t able to retain those numbers because of an insane amount of competition on the Xbox 360 market.
halo 3 sold around 5 times more copies in comparison. The competition argument is just dumb to me. There are very few games that hold a persons attention for more than a week. Can you get 3 months out of a game like assassins creed? I can’t.
Only games I could see as challengers
MW3 ( obviously is going to have high numbers. But, halo 3 competed with MW2.
Gears ( The population on gears is lower than reach)
Skyrim ( single player so it shouldn’t affect multiplayer games too much)
BF (The only changed variable IMO)
> Reach sold just fine. It just wasn’t able to retain those numbers because of an insane amount of competition on the Xbox 360 market.
This ^. And I think this belongs in the Halo Reach category…
> I’m tired of the people saying that as long as there is enough people to play I’m fine.
I really dont care about this obvious trolling post, but ahem as long as there are enough people to play im fine…
> halo 3 sold around 5 times more copies in comparison. The competition argument is just dumb to me. There are very few games that hold a persons attention for more than a week. Can you get 3 months out of a game like assassins creed? I can’t
Halo 3 has also been out for a lot longer. I don’t remember exact numbers, but I do believe Reach’s first 24 hour sales trumped Halo 3’s.
The competition argument is really the only argument that matters here because it’s true. Reach could have been the most amazing Halo to date, but the fact of the matter is, the masses have moved on from Halo (for now). Call of Duty is dominating the 360 leaderboards right now.
not trolling at all. I’m stating that reach was a failure and that 343 needs to get their -Yoink- together for halo 4. If I was trolling I would have put this in the halo reach section.
opening day numbers don’t mean anything. What matters to me is after opening release. If word gets around that the game is good, it will keep selling. Reach sold well the first few weeks. Then word got around it was nothing special and the sales halted. The population plummeted after the first two weeks as well

You also think this has nothing to do with Call of Duty: Black Ops? You are feigning ignorance just so you can have an additional reason to hate Reach. It’s pretty common.
…Reach sold well. It even got about the same review scores as Halo 3 from most publishers. And for the record you’re wrong about competition. Halo 3’s biggest competitor was Call of Duty 4, which was the beginning of the series’ rise to addictive MM. MW2 wasnt released for another two years, and it could be said that it overwhelmed the sales for ODST due to it’s popularity…and possibly for ODST’s status as a full-priced DLC.
Halo Reach had to deal with the still-running-strong MW2, Black Ops (which received about 5 million or so sales during it’s first month/week, I dont remember.) MoH and the rise of playstation exclusives which has given players reasons to switch consoles. As well as other good games like Red Dead Redemption and Mass Effect 2. And a year later, Reach is dealing with MW3 which has broken even BO’s records, Battlefield 3, Gears 3 and other decent titles.

and the other games that Reach is competing with have just as much competition as Reach yet have more people playing it

you mean it took you half a year to give in to your friends who have been drumming this into you?
pro-tip, don’t give into peer pressure.
anyhow, reach did sell fine, the current xbox game competition is also 10x stronger compared to when previous halo’s where around, of course there are the main titles but there is also a tone of smaller titles taking peoples attentions, lets not forget about those games you can download off the market place.
CoD currently holds the biggest attention because that is all anyone plays, people like to play XBL with their friends and if their friends are playing CoD then they’re going to play CoD as well just so they can play with them or because they don’t want to be the odd one out and shunned upon (kids can be cruel…).

Because they’re (in the eyes of the consumer) something new, something fresh. Gamers have been freaking out and getting Master Chief tattoos since the days of Halo 1. Like I said before, Halo has run its course for now and games like CoD, Battlefield, Skyrim, Assassin’s Creed, and other AAA titles I forgot to mention are having their time to shine.

The only reason COD, battlefield, fifa, ect have more players then Reach is because Reach sucks
why did Halo 3 have more players then COD 4 and COD 5 and was only beaten by COD when MW2 came out and thats when it lots it number 1 spot on most played games on xbox live

Okay, by this logic Halo 3 sucks as well because it’s less popular.

what?
You’re saying Reach has less players because it sucks. Halo 3 has even less players than Reach. According to your logic, this is because it is a bad game.
> You’re saying Reach has less players because it sucks. Halo 3 has even less players than Reach. According to your logic, this is because it is a bad game.
thats because Halo 3 is old Halo 3 had more players then Reach in Halo 3’s prime

Your argument is simply riddled with fallacies. Primarily appeal to popularity.
You are saying that the only variables when it comes to game X vs. game Y is the gameplay of the game. If that were true, in your eyes at least, Halo 3 would be on top because it is superior to CoD games and Reach.
There are other things to take into consideration, such as marketing, the momentum a series or game has, etc. As it stands now, Halo has very little momentum and has not had that since Halo 3. Call of Duty, on the other hand, has been on the rise ever since.

gameplay is what determines the superior game
COD 4 sold more then Halo 3 did COD 5 comes out Halo 3 still most played game on xbox live Halo Reach had the biggest Halo game launch day sales yet Halo 3 was still a more popular game
