Halo: Reach should get a Definitive Edition.

Halo: Reach for me was the last great Halo game. With the exception of Halo: CE Anniversary, every Halo game that has come after- Halo 4, Halo: MCC, and Halo 5: Guardians- has been an utter disappointment.

The thing about Reach is that it had something for everyone. A wide array of customization options across all game modes, the biggest Forge map ever featured in a Halo game, and the best iteration of Firefight as well. Halo: Reach had it’s flaws… but it was still a solid, all-around awesome game.

That’s why I think this game should get a Definitive Edition on Xbox One. Enhanced graphics running at 1080p/60fps, with all the DLC packaged in… including the pre-order exclusive UA/Multi-Threat chest plate and Limited Edition exclusive Elite Officer armor.

All of your progress from the Xbox 360 version would carry over. Your rank, your credits, your armor… everything. But you would also get some new things; a new Red visor color like the one used by Jun and Jorge in the campaign. New customization options in Firefight like the ability to add Set Skulls a la Halo 3: ODST- skulls that activate at the start of a set and remain active until the end of the game for those who want to recreate the original Firefight experience. There would also be improved Firefight maps- vehicle maps like Beachhead and Unearthed would now have friendly AI and Pelican drops just like Installation 04, and the Revenant would now appear on Beachhead, Unearthed, Glacier, and Outpost as part of the Covenant vehicle drop for you to highjack and drive in Firefight.

Finally, there would be a Heretic Elite option added to Firefight; when toggled on, players would be allowed to play as Elites fighting alongside Spartans if they have Elites set to their preferred species.

There would also be new options relating to Ammo Crates and Generator Defense. For Ammo Crate Traits, choose which weapons they can refill and which ones they don’t; for a classic ODST-style Firefight experience, make it so that they only refill Assault Rifles and Magnums. Or, if you want to expand your arsenal or viable weapons in Firefight, you could set them to be able to refill Sniper Rifles, Needle Rifles, Spikers, Needlers, and Concussion Rifles in addition to the default weapons.

Generator Traits would allow to tweak the Damage Resistance of each generator and also set the Lockdown Time, or enable self-repair to have to generators regain some of their health at the end of a Wave, Round, or Set. Set the maximum amount of health they regenerate (options range from as low as 10% to as high as 100%), and how often they regenerate health, if at all. This would make the mode a little more entertaining and give the players a real chance of defending the generators on higher difficulties.

In multiplayer, tweaks would be made to balance Armor Lock, Active Camo, and Hologram. Holograms would now appear properly on radar and also come with shields to make it harder to distinguish them from real players. Armor Lock would be modified to provide maximum protection against explosive weapons and vehicles so you can still Reject! rockets, Frag Grenades, Warthogs, and Ghosts… but would immediately break under sustained fire from loadout weapons like Assault Rifles, DMRs, Plasma Repeaters, and the like.

Active Camo would function more like the Arbiter’s camo in Halo 2’s campaign; short duration with complete invisibility even while running… but with a very long recharge. As with the Arbiter, firing your weapon or throwing a grenade while Active Camo is on would automatically cancel it. The radar jamming effect would be removed as well, and enemy players would still be able to see you on radar if you’re running; the idea is make it less useful for camping (especially on large maps), and more of a strategic tool.

Halo: Reach is a great game that could be made even greater on Xbox One. Backwards compatibility isn’t working out for Halo: Reach… and this would not only be a great way to address those problems, but make an already awesome game even better.

The thing is Reach shouldn’t be running at 60 FPS for one reason, look at Halo 5, it runs at 60 fps albeit a rare occassion to actually run at 60fps but split-screen was sacrificed for 60fps in H5, I’d rather have 30fps and split-screen than 60fps and no split-screen.

That wouldn’t be a concern. Halo: MCC has split-screen, but it runs at 1080p/60fps.

Reach shouldn’t even be a PART of the MCC, Reach’s armor customization and community would got to pot real quick if it was added to MCC, I don’t think we need a Reach remake, at least until what 2021? Then a Reach remake’d be cool, but I don’t wanna see Reach ANYWHERE NEAR MCC.

I never said that Halo: reach should be part of the Master Chief Collection; the point I was trying to make is that Halo: MCC is able to run the remastered games on Xbox One in 1080p/60fps with split-screen without any issue. Ergo, a standalone Definitive Edition of Halo: Reach wouldn’t have any of the problems of Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: MCC. Also, I’d rather not wait until 2021 for a Definitive Edition. This is something that should be coming out in 2017 at the latest.

The fact of the matter is, it would only have a chance for a 2021 release as 2021 marks the 10 year anniversary of Reach, other than that there won’t be any Reach re-releases or remakes or upgrades or any of that. I want it too, but I know timing, and yes I’m an impatient -bad word- but I’m willing to wait for Reach.

First of all, that’s the 11 year anniversary of Reach. Halo: Reach was released in 2010.

Second, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4 have already been ported to Xbox One, and soon Halo Wars will come to Xbox One with a Definitive Edition as well. That makes Halo: Reach the only Halo game not ported to Xbox One. Halo: Reach is a popular game, and many fans are still upset over Halo: MCC and Halo 5: Guardians, it makes perfect sense to make a Definitive Edition of this fan-favorite now.

I agree Halo Reach should get an xbox one port instead of just being backwards compatible, the problem is most people would either hate on it to hate on it, or just do whatever they could to encourage 343 to not make it. Sure a LOT of us want it, but the Halo community is so broken down and crappy nowadays that it’s hard to tell who’s a fan and who’s a troll. I say bring on the Reach! But that’s just me.

Personally I don’t think this should happen. I loved Reach, it was a really fun game with a great campaign but I would rather see 343 focus their efforts on telling new stories and exploring new areas of the Halo Universe. They were brought together to carry that universe forward, I don’t think they should be spending their time re-releasing everything Bungie ever did.

I love all of this except I’m really fine with Reach’s original frame rate. It’s the rate i’m used to seeing and moving in in Halo and 5 kinda made it weird.

But everything bungie ever did was better tho. And more fun. And looked better. And made more sense. They could really stand to take a page out of Bungie’s Halo playbook. But I’m sure they won’t so this is the next best thing for me.

I agree. Reach was not a main “numbered” Halo and neither was ODST or Wars so you don’t do anniversary edition, you can re-release a definitive edition at any point, really. Only Halo CE, 2, and 3 have gotten the Anniversary title, as it should be. ODST, 4, and Wars have all gotten ports (or are soon getting one) and Reach could be easily ported or redone into a “so-in-so Edition” and I would buy that -Yoink- right up nom nom nom

3 has not yet gotten an anniversary, MCC is not H3A, H3A, assuming it is happening, would be released in september of 2017.

Way, WAY to early for something like this. Even then reach is backwards compatible, there is no reason for them to put in the work for this as reach wasn’t even regarded that well anyway

Reach was regarded excellently, the only place that I saw complaints were on this website. And it was mostly about one thing: Armor lock.

There were a lot more complaints than that, reach is almost universally considered the second worst game, bad campaign, breaking well established cannon, AAs, forgettable maps, bloom, bad competitive ranking, and bad level ranking. Reach wasn’t that good

Set the maximum amount of health they regenerate (options range from as low as 10% to as high as 100%), and how often they regenerate health, if at all. This would make the mode a little more entertaining and give the players a real chance of defending the generators on higher difficulties.

Reach was incredible. Don’t know how you figure all that or why. I’m not gonna argue my case there’s no point, your mind is already made up, but just so you know, me and everyone I know thats into gaming (at least 30 people or more) loved it and played the crap out of it, and I consider it one of the best. The game regularly reached massive population counts so if it was the “second worst” I sure couldn’t tell. Maps being forgettable is a matter if opinion, as I have them all memorized down to every nook. It’s not “universally” anything good or bad, I know its a pretty split subject, but you’re just regurgitating what a bunch of other people on these forums constantly churn out when someone says something about Reach. As if Reach isn’t allowed to be someones favorite. I had zero problem with the game, I loved it as much if not more than both 2 and 3

A wide array of customization options across all game modes, the biggest Forge map ever featured in a Halo game, and the best iteration of Firefight as well. Halo: Reach had it’s flaws… but it was still a solid, all-around awesome game.

There was a poll the other weekend and reach got voted second worst, if your just going to close your eyes and stick with your opinion that’s fine. But the majority of people dident find it “incredible” as far as maps ce is known for big maps like blood gulch and sidewinder, halo 2 waterworks, halo 3 Valhalla and Zanzibar, reach is just… Reach, they were a bunch of recycled campaign maps, nothing more. And just because my opinion is similar to others Dosent make it wrong. If you can’t back up your opinion, then your opinion Dosent matter. It’s was incredible and my friends played it Dosent matter
