This has been happening for a few weeks now, and it is really starting to frustrate me.
When ever I am online, I can not play any online matches on Reach, and I am apparently a Recruit with the default armour. However, when I go into the armoury it shows my correct armour set up and rank. I’ve tried loading Reach offline, and my rank and armour check out. But as soon as I connect to Live, it all resets, and I can’t play online.
I’ve tried restarting my xbox, the game, my internet, my computer(need my computer to connect to live), dashboarding, clearing my HDD’s cache, but nothing seems to work.
Someone PLEASE help me, I really want to play Halo, but it wont let me. 
sounds like you have a matchmaking ban dude.
also check your nat settings it could be blocking the playlists.
also delete the TU and re download it that can also help.
I’ve been having the same problem, and I’m sure it’s not a ban. If it were a ban, we would get a message saying it was one.
I recently replaced my home network to set up a direct line for my Xbox (had to go through a router and two hubs before) and specifically opened up the NAT and set up port forwarding for the Xbox, so I know it’s not my network causing the problems (I work in the CS/IT field, I know what I’m doing).
I’ll try re-downloading the TU again, but honestly I think it’s an issue with the Reach servers…
before I stopped playing reach, and that was very long ago, I sometimes got the same error, it said something like reach servers are unavailable right now, I checked my NAT settings on another game and they were fine. that confused me.

I don’t think I’ve been banned, I hadn’t touched the game in a long time, and when I did play it 2 weeks ago I only played one match. I didn’t do anything wrong as far as I know. As for my NAT settings, they haven’t changed ever, so I don’t think that’s the problem. As for re downloading the TU, I had to anyway after I cleared my HDD’s cache. Oh well, I’ll wait it out for another week, if it was because I was banned I’d be pretty annoyed.
