Halo Reach server unavailable to my friend..

For 2 days everytime my friend gets onto Reach it keeps saying the server is unavailibe to him… Me and my other friends are fine but my one friend can’t get on anymore. Any ideas why?

I haven’t heard of the servers being down, i played today. I’ve had the same thing happen to me a couple days back and all you need to is wait for the information to load, it sometimes takes a little while. It’s a server glitch.

Alright… I’ll let my friend know to just sit in the lobby for a bit. If that doesn’t work i’ll just post again…

If your friends connection isn’t stable, it won’t load the information properly either (everything starts to lag, including The Armory). If it’s fine, then that’s not the problem.

You can also tell your friend to clear up his cache data in his 360. It wouldn’t hurt to do that either. If you don’t know how to do that, here’s the link just in case.

Anyways, i hope this helps and your friend can play Halo Reach!

The Cache clearing worked! Thanks. Never thought about that at all…

You gonna be hanging around the forums? Or is this a case of post and run off? :3

Glad the problems cleared up btw.

Hi there,

I’m having the same issue but sadly clearing the cache hasn’t helped. I’ve had this problem before and posted a thread but it came good before anyone could reply. At the time I believed it was an issue with the ISP and I still believe it is. I’m with PCCW (Netvigator) in HK. I have just had a super fast gigabit fiber connection installed and whilst I can log into Xbox Live and my internet is excellent, however right now I just can’t get onto the Halo servers. Everything had been working fine for a few weeks. I played online on Monday last week and everything was fine… and then -BAM- I go to log on Wednesday and I get the dreaded “Cannot Reach Halo Servers” msg… and it hasn’t worked since (1.5weeks).

I have taken my xbox to my friends who has a DSL connection with the same company and it worked fine. I then took it to another friend who has a fiber like mine with the same company and the same problem occured. So I’m guessing it has something to do with the ISP’s fibre network or IP’s.

I have been in contact with the ISP and they have asked me what the IP of the gameserver is? As well they have asked what what the IP range the server accepts thinking that the server is rejecting my IP? I’m not sure… because everything was working fine one day and then not the next.

Does anyone happen to have this information, or better still a contact email for customer/technical support at 343 so they can help me out with this issue? I have contacted Xbox Live customer support and they referred me through to Bungie (they are a little behind the times… when I told the Xbox support guy that Bungie no longer run the show he had idea what I was talking about!)

I’m hoping to get this sorted out. At this stage the ISP have told me there is nothing else they can do to help until I get some info from the HALO guys… and if I can’t play Halo… well thats pretty much the only reason I have an Xbox and Xbox Live acct. Right now I’m at a dead end :frowning:

Cheers.

This has also been happening to a lot of NZ (New Zealand) Halo players for over a month now. We also thought that this problem was with one of our ISP in NZ namely Slingshot but they have no idea why this is happening and neither does Microsofts support people. The other thing the NZ players have in common is that all other games matchmaking works fine ie Battlefield, CODMW2 etc. Only halo 3 and Halo Reach have the dreaded “Cannot Reach Halo Servers” msg. Plz help us out here 343. I only managed to use less than a week of my free gold trial before the problem occured and it has since expired to silver and now I have had to use my second free 1 month gold trial last night and it still doesnt work. I notice that custom games still work fine so its just the matchmaking side that is playing up. I think 343 really need to look at this and if possible to rebate the time we have lost on our gold subscriptions since we havent been able to use them, especially for those of us that only have gold for the purposes of playing halo 3 and Reach matchmaking. btw I have a 3 month gold subscription which I bought about a month ago but since I had these free gold trials on my new console I thought I would use those first. I am so glad I didnt use my 3month sub now and would rather not use it until these probs are ironed out. As the other poster mentioned, this problem has only occured since 343 took over the playlists. I have had countless xbox’s due to RROD :frowning: and many different profiles over the years and have been playing halo 3 since day 1 and I have never once had this problem. Please help us out here. We just want to play matchmaking

P.S I have done all the usual isolation tests with modem, resetting, clearing cache on console and even profile recovery. Clearing system cache doesnt work for me either

You are welcome  I am pleased to hear that clearing the Cache was the solution you were looking for.
