i’ve been trying to play some reach matchmaking, but every time i go to the matchmaking selection from the main menu, i am told “the halo: reach server is unavailable at this time. please try again later” and i am unable to start matchmaking.
could anyone offer any insight as to what might be the problem here?
also,
i am connected to xbox live, i am a gold member, and i can still see all of my friends and what they’re playing in reach. literally, it just wont let me play matchmaking.
I get this error when 3 or 4 other people in the house are online doing something bandwidth intensive. What little connection I can drum up is just enough to connect to Live but not enough for matchmaking. Use the Network Status option in the Start Menu to check the quality of your connection, if you have any warnings there Bungie.net has an article on Reach and your Network that you may find useful, you can find it here.
This was popping up randomly for my party in the early days of Reach. Like the first two days after launch. Haven’t seen it since then. Not sure if it’s an issue on your end specifically or something bigger.
I just got Reach and its my first Halo game…Die hard COD fan…the 2 games I did get into, I liked, and I really want to keep playing this game, but this match making issues is killing me…I’ve only tried to play the Free for all and the team games…all failed…
First off it takes forever…and when I do get a game, I get ONE.
most of the time, it will disconnect me totally from Xbox Live. Then I have to turn off then turn back on my xbox…this only happens when I play Reach.
I get the same error message that the servers are down or can’t get the info from XBL…What gives?
Not trying to take this to Game stop while it still has good trade in value…
FYI, I have no problems with my bandwidth, checking my network status, I have all 4 bars lit…Why is it just Halo Reach gives me a problem? Am I doing something wrong with my settings?
I have the solution!
Had exactly the same problem; good internet connection & settings but restarting Halo en Xbox didn’t work!
When i restarted my router/modem/acces point everything worked fine again!
I hope this will work for you too.
Let me know!

Powercycling the router and modem will fix pretty much anything when it comes to your internet connection being wonky.
