Halo Reach screen lag

im using a 57 inch tv hdmi playing splitscreen on halo reach before you say anything about tv’s size it was working just fine about 2 months ago. My screen lags alot making precision shooting very difficult and i only notice this in halo reach not a single of my other 60 xbox 360 games do this at all not even a little bit.

Any Call of duty= no screen lag
Assasing creed= no screen lag
Battlefield 3- no screen lag
halo 3- no screen lag
Halo reach- pawned due to screen lag

Note- this happens in offline play on reach as well this is how i know it is not the internet.

also have a 30 mb download and 6 mb upload As said by www.speedtest.net

could it be my xbox is getting old and dying out on me for some reason?
also this happens in single player as well as splitscreen the last time i checked. i can run some tests offline to see if it only happens during splitscreen if i cant get this solved before halo 4 comes out i might have to cancel getting the game because it leaves it unplayable for me

PLEASE HELP ME THANK YOU ALL IN ADVANCE

Screen lag is common in Reach, because the graphics engine overburdens the Xbox 360’s hardware. There is no fix. It’s probably not your console. It’s probably not your TV (though you should check that to make sure).

Situations likely to provoke screen lag:
Playing in a Forge map that uses colored light balls.

Playing in a Forge map with a large number of pieces. Pieces with glass and pieces with small lights tend to cause the worst problems. (Glass is worst on Forge World; Tempest and the Anniversary maps use a different glass effect that causes less lag.)

Playing split-screen in a Forge map with a medium number of pieces. More screens, more lag.

Playing in Campaign, when a lot of shots are being fired or a lot of particle effects (smoke, fire, etc.) are active.

Hope this helps. :\

i have also come to the conclusion that because its going on 3 years old it may

  1. Overheat kind of life computers do causing this lag

  2. might have dust on the lens and need to be cleaned out

  3. any other tips or hints from personal experience are welcomed ill try almost anything to get this to work again (im getting halo 4 xbox) so if its a old issue it should be resolved then.

yes but it never used too do this when i first got halo reach it was PERFECTLY fine for more then the first year.

for it to start lagging now in campaign does not make sense Although i do see lag reasons for forge maps and other stupid stuff

That is odd, yes.

Have you tried installing Reach to your Xbox’s hard drive, if you have room? Doing so will copy most of the levels from the disc to the drive, which allows things to load faster. It’ll reduce lag near loading points (areas that trigger the “Loading… Done” message above your radar), and perhaps it might help improve performance in general.

i have installed it to the hard drive a week or 2 ago and it did not solve the issue or even improve it at all from what i can see

The newer slim 360s have worse average framerates in Reach then the old phat 360s so if you do get a new slim you may find it isn’t an improvement but actually worse.

Hopefully Halo 4 will be better tuned to the 360s capabilities.

Try clearing your cache, if that doesn’t work back up essential data and format your 360s memory.

Rather than running out and spending the money on a new 360 look at a guide for opening and cleaning a 360 and see if it is something you’d be prepared to do.

i do not want to open the xbox up under any circumstances im currently using the mw2 Limited edition console so its the big fat one not the slim just for further information.

ill try clearing the cache but i have found that doesn’t work in most cases also formatting the xbox what can i save my stuff on ? any external hard drive or what (i have heard there are risks of losing all your game files as well as any info you had)

if the new xbox360 i get doesn’t run games at the performance im looking for ill take it back along with halo 4 take all my games sell them and stick to my computer its much easier for me to cooldown a computer and enjoy stuff at top performance
(if this is a problem with the 360 its one of the biggest screw ups ever) although i cant see why a new xbox wouldnt fix it because i never once had this problem in the past unless its just bad design on the halo reach game that causes this by people trying to push the 360s limits further then what they are ready for

I think that any flash drive will work, but you must format it specifically for your Xbox 360.

ok my biggest agrivation on halo reach is when the screen goes black and all you see is the list of the gamer tags. that has gotten on my last nerv and i just want to go to my dash board on my 360 but then i would get banned for quiting. speeking of which it gets on my last nerv as well when ppl betray me and i dont have the option to boot them but when i betray them back they get that option to boot me. i have also notice my grenades lag when i am not the host of any game. same thing goes for the wraith when i fire the main cannon. but the biggest lag i have ever seen was when i was playing invasion and i was the only one on the map and i could not see anyone not even my own teammates and i would get hit out of nowhere and die randomly. apperantly they could see me but i could mot them i was completely confused and when i looked at the playlist they all had X’s to indicate they were dead. i know weird as hell.

I know this my be irrelevant, but does your tv have a game mode option? If so try playing on game mode.

Had this problem in the past, and now its gone.

no there is no game mode for my tv regrettably im also looking at options to change the output on my 360 such as 1080i 720 p and such

what did you do or when did you notice that it vanished?

sanyo 55 inch tv dp55441 game lag apparently players and other people are saying that it is the TVs fault and this is absolutely unacceptable fail for humanity how can you screw someone in 2012 like this P.O.S no game mode on the TV and the thing is just overall a piece of crap but thats what i get for letting someone buy a tv for me haha ill have too Sell my tv (anyone want to buy it) and go buy a good one with a GAME MODE or very low input lag
Could my hdmi cord be causing this lag?

ANY TV SUGGESTIONS PLEASE LEAVE MAKE AND MODEL P.S Tv must be 37 inches or bigger please and thank you

If the screen lag isn’t present with other games it is unlikely to be the fault of HDMI but you could always try hooking your 360 up with component or VGA and see if the screen lag persists.

What is the manufacture date of your 360s?

i used to get running riots or higher every other game or so now im lucky to do that in my whole day of playing TV is ruining my gaming skill

the 360 im using currently was bought november 10th 2009. but as i just remember i used too play on a different tv not this one

I cant go MLG size 20-30 inch tv because my Girlfriend and i always play splitscreen so i need at least a 37 inch + but i want low response time to get my gaming back sorry if i irritate any of you fellow gamers but im sure you can understand my problem about sucking due to TV lol if i play on a old -Yoink- bulky 27 inch tv i can go 50 kills to 5 or 8 deaths

(my 47 inch is the one i was not having issues with)

Who the manufacturer of your TV and what model is it?

the current tv of which im using (the one with the lag issue) is a 55 inch Sanyo Dp55441

this particular tv is absolutely horrible for gaming in my opinion there is no gaming mode and no options to turn off any Special picture settings to assist in my gameplay

my girlfriend is sleeping at the moment but after she wakes up and leaves im going to be doing extreme testing on this lag.
