Halo reach “Requires an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership”

“Requires an Xbox LIVE Gold Membership with permission to play multiplayer on Xbox LIVE”

for context, my account has Xbox live gold, but halo reach won’t recognize that and let me play multiplayer. I can use Xbox live normally on my other games (Xbox one), but for some reason reach won’t recognize my access. I’ve tried adding and removing my account. Nothings working.

what do I do?

If you’re playing Reach on your 360, the Microsoft family Gold sharing won’t carry over, so if your profile isn’t the one who purchased the Gold, you won’t be able to use Gold on the 360. That’s all I know about this issue, so if the example I used applies to you, then that’s the problem. If not, well, I can’t help you there.

Yes only if want to play the matchmaking games otherwise for the campaign you don’t need it.

One of my friends had this same issue. You’ll want to talk to Xbox Support about it if you are not able to figure it out.

Reach has had several issues when it comes to online. If the gold was not purchased on the account you are using than that could be it. Otherwise it is a bug that will never get fixed.

I find it a little anyone that you need an internet connection period to play Halo Reach on the Xbox One, even if you are playing from the disk. I don’t have Gold, or an internet connection my Xbox can connect to so I have been having to play Offline for about 8-10 months. And I can’t play Reach on my Xbox One, even with the disk…which is kinda bumming though I can still play Offline on the 360…though it does cut down on the amount of earned cR.

Found a fix for this.

Press the start and display button on the controller to bring up legacy 360 menu.

Hit X button to sign out of 360 menu. Once signed out, select download profile.

Enter the Xbox Live Account Credentials used for your Gamertag.

This will force the system to reach out to Microsoft and obtain an updated copy of your profile for Xbox Live.

Once the download is complete, follow on screen instructions to sign in.

Hope this helps!! -Sub Zero

I know this is a Reach topic, but it’s done the same thing for when I was trying to play Halo 5, I need someone to answer this for me & it would be helpful.

Probably better making a support topic in the Halo 5 Support forums for this

Alright, will do. Thanks

I’ve been having this problem as well, but I guess 360 only gives Xbox Live for one specific account

Did you ever play Halo: Reach on the Xbox One? I’m guessing you need to download some stuff that enables the backwards compatibility first.
Can’t you move Xbox and a screen towards wherever your internet is for a moment, just to download that stuff?

Yes, I have played it on my Xbox One before and I mean I don’t have internet at my house period. I haven’t lived at a place with internet for a year now.

So you really need a live connection to play, for no reason? Weird, I thought consoles were meant to have high % functionality even without internet…

The Xbox One needs internet connection for most things. Hell, you can’t earn achievements or even look at your achievements offline. You can’t really change any of your profile settings either like preferences and what have you unless you are online. Granted some games and what not can be played offline. For some reason, my Armello doesn’t want to load (it would play if it will load) without being online since the last update but thankfully I can play ARK offline.

Can’t earn achievements offline? Really? :S Isn’t that the equivalent of MS shooting itself in the foot?
I was planning to get an Xbox One at some point… Every now and then I won’t have Xbox Live for a couple of months, when I’m not on Xbox much or just working through some single player game(s).

I’m a fan of Xbox, not Steam. Don’t turn my Xbox into another Steam. :frowning:

I really need some help. It says the exact same thing and I just got a new Xbox live gold today and this situation has NEVER happened to me before. I’m lost on what to do. Does anyone have any advice!?

When I do this I get to select download profile then it bring up a tab that says I need Xbox live. And when I press connect to Xbox live it brings me to the Xbox 1 settings. Do I need to go on my 360 to fix this glitch?
