Halo reach Population means nothing

Ok its lower than the other halo games so what its not like you cant find matches and anyways look at the game comparison halo 3 came out with what cod4 ok i’ll give you that what did reach have near its release date MW2, Blackops, Battlefield 3, Gears 3, Halo annav., and MW3 so you really cant compare population to a game that was flooded with other compititon to a game with barely any huge title games coming out.

Bad logic.

The number of people playing BF3? MW3? GOW3? Yup, a lot.
If they liked Reach more, they’d play that instead. But they don’t.

Why do you even bring this up? You can’t prove anything or change anything even if you convince people of your opinion.

> The number of people playing BF3? MW3? GOW3? Yup, a lot.

OMG, thx. People would even say that if the populations Reachs 1000 or so, lol

LMAO

Halo 3 had as much competition as Reach did and it still managed to be #1.

One thing I have never seen anyone post in this age old argument is that Halo, and by association Reach, is an Xbox exclusive game. This means it will never, ever, have the same amount of players to start with, out of the three main hardcore platforms, Halo is really only available on one or two depending on the game. Gears of War 3’s population also has dramatically dropped, while BF and COD are multiplatform games, allowing them to have a larger market in the first place.

Part of what I see is that the most popular games now are not Sci-fi or Alternate reality games, but military shooters. These military shooters are also not arena style. I personally believe that arena style games (Halo, GOW, Quake, etc.) are generally more difficult to play, as you have to go out and find powerful weapons, as well as having longer kill times. The military shooters allow you to spawn with pretty much whatever you want. This leads to a very different type of gameplay. The majority of gamers at the moment want to pick what they spawn with in multiplayer and customize their characters to the maximum amount possible.

Exactly, if I can find matches, I don’t care.

Well said, good sir. Also, I would point out that numbers do mean something, but their significance in terms of good game/bad game is not as great as people believe.

I care for the quality of players, not the quantity of them.
And attitude holds much more weight than actual skill when defining that quality.
I do not care for gamers with defeatist attitudes. Their wins are truly lucky.

I’ll never understand why you guys think adding 1-50 is going to bring a million people back to a year old game. At best it’ll slow the drop-off. It sure isn’t going to cause a massive influx of new players. Do you really think people who haven’t played Reach in 9 months are sitting at home checking this website waiting for the day they can make their triumphant return?

Seriously.

Wanna explain this then?

My preference to Halo is separate from the fact that I miss the days when our group of friends did not have to agree on what to play, we just played halo. And more important, I found many of my playmates while matchmaking in halo.

During my halo 3 matchmaking, I played with people from all over the world, it was amazing that if you extended past you schedule, you could jump into some other continent’s playing schedule and with that a whole new playing style came about.

I trust the 343 team does care for market share and continues to improve the game until it dominates the xbox live game time. But that’s just my wish, because the more people who play halo, the more the owners will invest in the franchise.

So far, I’ve seen significant changes in the playing community and my friends, who had left halo in the past, have now been returning to halo at a steady pace.

Meanwhile, I keep faithful to halo reach… and whatever comes next.

They all come back, wait for Halo 4, the numbers will be HUGE! As to Reach, thats where I will be gaming till Halo 4 =)

halo 3 had the same franchises as halo reach does to compete with (cod, gears, battlefield) the difference is that halo 3 was a better game than halo reach and therefore more people stuck with halo 3 and it was a lot more fun to play. its really a simple concept

Also GTA 4 (Big franchise) Red Dead, FIFA, etc.

Halo 3 had some pretty intense competition. lol

yea there as just as many good single player games out now as there was then 2. reach just didn’t live up to the “Halo” expectation. thats why people don’t play anymore. i hope halo 4 changes this halo is a great franchise that i don’t want to decline.

Same, well if the matchmaking team said, they don’t want to spend any time on this game, I can say halo 4 is going to be amazing.

I can’t wait for halo 4 to come out and there will be zero people on this game.

Face it everyone, this game already hits 9.5k players 3 am west coast time.

Was wondering if the 9.5k was data you collected while playing or was from another source?

My own personal experience. Oh this was after they fixed the servers.

I do the same when I get on and play (6 am west coast) but I hardly go through all playlist and never keep accurate records but have never seen it that low. However being that it would be midnight West coast and 3 am Eastcoast in the US and roughly 9 to 11 am in Europe, that does not surprise me as that seems like the worst time to be playing any game on live.
