Halo Reach or Halo 5

Halo 5 needs more game types and maps.

For me and my two kids Halo is a family experience. We enjoy both Halo 4 and Reach.
We would like to enjoy Halo 5, but since there is no splitscreen, it is not on the ‘christmas’ list.
Bad marketing, if you ask me.
Looking forward to BC, maybe we can wreck some ‘old’ inheritors too!

> Thats the game that started the downward spiral for the community. It caused confusion of what Halo was and is. I enjoy Reach to an extent but it had loads of issues. It was a Halo that the majority of the community hated. Sorry for the reality check.

I hated some things about Reach. Primarily armour lock and jet packs. Still, I enjoy Reach a lot more than H5. I would play H5 if I didn´t get matched on US servers all the time. H5 has the potential to be a really great game once they have provided more maps and playlist updates etc. But the stumbling block is definitely the servers. Unless I can chose to play on EU servers only I won´t play the game. Reach had more lag issues but P2P still gave me an overall better performance with regards to latency as it would´nt always be to my disadvantage. Dedicated servers over P2P for sure but only if I can choose to play on more local servers. No H5 for me since 2 weeks and I´ll be waiting for Reach backwards compatibility. Then I can finally play Reach with my Elite controller

Reach was god awful and ended the series’ dominance. Halo hasn’t been able to compete with cod since reach for good reason, -Yoinking!- awful game.

Loved Halo Reach! Best Forge, best Campaign, best Firefight, best Multiplayer…hell, probably (IMO) overall best Halo game.
I’ll be playing Halo 5 though, Halo Reach is played out. Spent many good hours on it and I’m ready for new gameplay. Halo 5 has been fantastic so far, looking forward to the future as it becomes more fleshed out and issues get smoothed over.

I know some of the complaints about Armor Lock, but complaints about jetpack too? In my experience, I smiled to myself every time someone used armor lock. It gave me a chance to relax, let my shields charge, line up my sights, and time a nade right as the lock ended. No problems for me there. As for Jetpack, I always pointed out to teammates when people were using it. It takes away the ability to strafe, the main way to out gun someone. Basically it turns players into sitting ducks that can be seen from across the map. Big solo target I can shoot from behind cover, loved the fools.
I never played against pros though, so maybe they had some ultimate teamwork strategy that was terribly game breaking with Lock and Jetpack.

> My problem is that halo “vets” seem to think halo games are JUST made for them but fail to see that 40% of the halo community is casual. If you don’t like reach fine but you must know that some people like reach, I even think its the best halo IN MY OPINION!!! I just know some -Yoink- is going to call me out on that but hey I don’t care, Im not going to call you out if you think halo 2 is the best.

only 40%? i think it’s more. but i am signing all you said, very true. the campaign in halo reach was on of the best campaigns i every played in fps history. also the customization and the social playlists, ranking and massive content overall were absolutely great.

Yup, the reason I’m looking forward to Reach is the server issues.

Never thought i’d say this but i’ll take P2P over the Dedis we have atm any day!

Is that a serious question? I like halo 5 but reach will always be better.

They’re both really good games and they both have their own unique parts but if I had to chose I’d go with Halo 5, mainly because of the new features and improved forge that’ll come out soon. Hopefully it’ll be awesome.

I don’t understand this. You, and others, say that Reach ruined Halo and say that Halo 5 is much better. This doesn’t make sense to me because Halo has been getting less Halo since Reach. I like Halo 5 but I believe Halo Reach is much more of a Halo game than 5. If you were on the forums in its prime it was easy to see that one of the most hated aspects of Halo Reach were armor abilities. Now, not only is it ok to have armor abilities but it is expected. This community hated choosing an armor class with one special ability but now it’s ok with 4 special abilities that are always useable? Technically, Halo 5 is just an evolved version of Reach. Also, I don’t think Halo 5 is more competitive. Competitive used to mean that you were a better shot than the other guy. It also meant that you had to memorize power weapon spawn locations and times. Having a way to run from a fight, being told when and where power weapons spawn, and having vehicles made out of paper are not competitive game mechanics. Halo has evolved to cater to the new and inexperienced players. At least Halo Reach still used more classic mechanics than 5. That is why so many people will go back to a game that had a lot of hate. Because it reminds them of a Halo that was more traditional and simple than the current version/s. I don’t think Reach will overcome Halo 5 and start a revolution but I am anxious to see just how many of us will flock back to Reach.

Reach and Halo 2 are honestly the best Halo games out there, the “downward spiral” started with Halo 4.

I loved the introduction of sprint which I know many hardcore Halo fans hated (long time fan myself). But sprint was great, I like to be able to move quickly even though the ability changes the gameplay versus the previous titles.

But armour lock was terrible. Especially with higher latency games where a player using armour lock on host or low ping could just punch you out and there was little you could do if you couldn´t keep a distance. And you could be outgunning players all the time but then they just used armour lock and their team would bail them out again. I often played with randoms so if you didn´t have a team and you were playing other teams this would happen a lot.

Jet packs just changed the game too much IMO. And if you played a team who knew how to use a BR and on their host they could just fly all over the place and there was little you could do on maps like Uncaged.

remember reach

RIP Halo.

Reach is better than Halo 5 in my opinion and always will be. Reach would have been the ultimate Halo if the whole team from Bungie were working on it. Halo 5 has nothing on Reach. Remember kiddies, these are MY opinions.

Halo reach had a much better Story with great characters and fairly decent story.it also had a fantastic selection of multiplayer and community games.

halo 5 may have lacked in a strong story but it has a strong multiplayer with great additions like REQ,competitive game modes and packs.

in summary, reach had a great campaign and great community multiplayer this made it what it was and still is.however halo 5 still deliver s a true halo experience making it up to the ranks of 3,2 and reach.

Pre TU you could probably argue that H5 is better competitive wise, but post TU you really can’t. People haven’t had the opportunity to really see and realize the impact a lot of the spartan abilities have on game play with their abuse cases. Also if sprint and vertical mobility killed game play so much? Why the hell do you not hate H5? Which is the most mobile vertically and horizontally. Sounds like people are just scapegoating Reach so they don’t have to be mad that the trend continued. Hell Armor lock was pretty much ended after the first set of nerfs let alone the second. Also did everyone forget you can literally forge out DMR bloom, jet pack, sprint, armor lock; while still being able to forge them in on the map to control access to them?

Reach hits a balance between casual and competitive that H5 is never, ever going to hit. This what people seem to miss when they look at halo. The fact that they were all fun casual games that could be turned competitive. At no point was bungie like “let’s make a competitive game” but they allowed and supported their players making it competitive. It allowed people to really get behind the game and then be like “hey look they are streaming some Halo MLG let’s watch that”. Even when during H3 people absolutely hated all those fake “MLG leetnoscopedomshot420” kids.

love both, I will like to play fire fight again

The correct answer is yes.
