I hope this post isn’t deemed to be off-topic, but the problem is affecting my Reach gametime, so I guess to some degree it is on topic.
Anyway, does anyone have any advice on how to make my connection less laggy? I have an OPEN NAT (I just recently switched my wireless connection from dynamic to static), but I think the problem is within the bandwith.
For example, I opened my NAT up recently and tested out Gears 3 (which has dedicated servers, no host) and still saw that the game was lagging online, even though I had open NAT.
Is there anyway to fix this?
And sorry again if this is off-topic, but this forum is generally very kind and helpful when answering questions like these.
It could have something to do with your actual internet speed (Mbps) or maybe you just need to reset your modem and or router. I used to have to do the latter on my older connection to make the lag lessen.
If you’re running Live through a Wi-Fi connection, try turning off the Wi-Fi on other devices in your home to increase bandwidth, such as laptops, mobile devices, etc. I often have to turn the Wi-Fi off on my iPhone, MacBook, and 3DS when Halo’s getting a little laggy, generally this fixes the problem.
Also, if you’re using Wi-Fi, things such as the distance between your router and your Xbox might affect signal strength and create lagginess.
The other option (which I currently use) is to use an Ethernet cord and hardwire your Xbox from your router or modem. This will most likely fix your problem, not to mention this is the easiest way to ensure a smooth connection and Live will never lag out, as long as your router’s efficient.
If that doesn’t help, then it’s most likely for router or Internet provider. Unplug your router for 30 seconds and plug it back in, see if that helps. Perhaps you just have an outdated router, of which you might want to upgrade. If all else fails, conntact your Internet provider.
There are a number of issues that may create lagginess, hope this helps!

Well I have done everything you suggested, none work. I guess I will just have to deal with it because my internet provider doesn’t give a crap because they have a monopoly in my area so… I don’t know what to do.

Contact your Internet provider if you’ve tried everything. The only other suggestion I have is to possibly purchase a new router. I’m sure if you complain enough your Internet provider will do something. Have you tried talking to Microsoft Xbox support?
