I had to cancel my internet service recently, so I haven’t been getting online. But, I still get together with friends every other week or so and play on a local LAN. Most of them have installed the title update, and because of that I can’t join their system link games. Is there any way to download the update and install it via a USB stick or CD/DVD like the dashboard updates?
Either do what the poster above said or if you’re bringing your Xbox over to your friends house anyway can’t you just connect to their internet and DL the title update that way?
> Best way to do that is by bringing your xbox hard drive and put it into their xbox then go on Halo:Reach and you will have that TU in your xbox.
This may not actually work as with most things, part of the info is on your HDD and the other part is actually ON your Xbox. This is prevalent with DLC, Arcade Games, etc. It might apply to the TU as well.
Just thought I’d post a follow up of my results. The LAN we play on is in an unfinished basement and not connected to the internet. I never thought to ask because we aren’t ever upstairs where I could connect it, and it was easier to just jump on someone else’s box instead of trying to fix the problem. (i.e. It was just as much a problem of timing…)
So the last time we got together, and despite the ease of solving the problem by just connecting it to the internet, I went a little early and tried swapping the hard drive to see if it would work. It would seem that the TU is not tied to the hardware like other DLC, after swapping the hard drive and installing the update I was able to play using my box like usual. Thanks for the help! =)
