Halo reach = "new Coke"

I think Halo’s response to Reach will turn out like this.
Reach = New coke

Discuss

Coke is awful, “classic” or “new”.

I see what you mean about the whole marketing ploy thing.

Interesting.

I had always thought in the back of my mind that Bungie deliberatly didn’t fix any issues with reach and ignored us, so that when 343 came along and listend to us, we would put our faith in 343 and the future of the Halo franchice.

A bit like Batman in the Dark Knight, Bungie takes the blame so that the people put their faith in 343 (Harvey Dent), but in this case 343 didn’t go on a murdering rampage. lol

> Coke is awful, “classic” or “new”.

coke being in 200 countries and being served 1.7 billion times every day disagrees with your bias.

I guess you and numbers dont get along

Because that being my opinion makes me wrong.

Good news, everyone! I like Mountain Dew!

But on topic, I take it you do not like Halo, classic or new? Or just the beverage the topic is named after?

Looks like nobody has heard of Fanta ice lemon. Guess fanta’s a British thing.

Fanta is Coka-Cola Co.'s experimental soda. Fanta are usually fruit-flavored sodas that Coke tries in different regions, thus, a lot of Fanta flavors are only available in certain areas (besides the headquarters). The UK has “Ice Lemon,” Japan has “Melon,” etc.

America has a number of flavors, but the most common are Orange and Grape. Pineapple and Strawberry are also available, but they’re hard to come by, as demand for pineapple or strawberry soda here isn’t so great.

Here’s the wikipedia of Fanta flavors by region:

That said, I am impartial to the soda wars. Coke is better than Pepsi, but I enjoy Siera Mist more than Sprite, and am a Mountain Dew Fanboy who was too young to enjoy Surge. However, I am also a Halo fanboy. I adore Reach, and while Armor Abilities make the game weird and occasionally frustrating, I find them interesting and fun, adding a further level of skill to things.

No.

New coke was a failure.

Halo Reach was a success!

P.S. “During the beta’s two-week run, over 2.7 million unique players played a total of over 6 million gameplay hours in the beta, making it one of the most played beta programs on any platform. Overall, there were over 1.1 billion kills registered in the beta…” :stuck_out_tongue:

Total game sales

looks like H3 did a bit better don’t you think? Combine that with about double xbox sales during those 3 years, and Reach sold abysmal (for a Halo game)

Live activity 2 years afther halo 3’s release

live activity halo reach 1.3 years after its release

Besides that the only reason Reach sold good opening day was because people were hyped after H3. First day sales were good, and afther that a rapid decline in sales. Exactly what happened to Gears 2 ( an utter dissapointment for gears 1 players)

So you like Pepsi?

Mountain Dew Produced and Owned by PepsiCo.

Why is Reach number 7-8 on the online popularity chart while Halo 2 and 3 ruled supreme during the times they were the main Halo?

Those halo games didnt have nearly the competition that reach has.

Black ops was still development, no skyrims, no assassins, no gears, and on and on.

Those halo games were the pinnacle of fps in their day.

Cherish those moments, but dont dwell in the past.

WE MUST LOOK TOWARDS THE FUTURE SPARTANS!

Yup. Pepsi is the best IMO =)

As for Reach, I see it as the Vault Beverage. Some prefer it over Mountain Dew, but some like Mountain Dew more.

> Those halo games didnt have nearly the competition that reach has.

If Reach was a properly made Halo game, the ‘competition’ wouldn’t be an issue. Reach would be the competition that other franchise fanbases would cite for why their numbers are lower than expected.

Reach’s population sucks because it’s low-quality junk geared toward the lowest common denominator, the bandwagon-jumping players who seek nothing but flashy gimmicks and quick payoffs, and will move on once the next flavor of the month rolls around. While 343 has released the settings that could help remedy this, they won’t install them into common matchmaking, effectively doing nothing.

This really isn’t a hard concept. Why people are still unable to grasp it is beyond me.

Halo 1 is coke in a can
Halo 2 is coke in a bottle
Halo 3 is new coke
Halo Reach is moxie.

When you say properly made game, do you mean an updated version of halo 3.

Bungie knew their contract was up, spit out reach, so when their new game comes out it will be what reach should have been.

Dont believe that bungie is going to break away from the formula that made them successful in the first place.

Bungies new game will be like a fps wth more sabre type battles, you watch.

> When you say properly made game, do you mean an updated version of halo 3.

No. Halo 3 was the precursor to Reach.

Believe or not, Halo games existed before Halo 3. And they were far superior to what we have today.

> Bungie knew their contract was up, spit out reach, so when their new game comes out it will be what reach should have been.

A bomb? That’s what Reach should’ve been, and would’ve been if the Halo name wasn’t attached.

> Dont believe that bungie is going to break away from the formula that made them successful in the first place.

That ship is long gone.

> Bungies new game will be like a fps wth more sabre type battles, you watch.

I don’t care.
