I don’t know about the rest of y’all but I for one think Halo Reach needs some loving again. I mean I know the games been out for coming up on almost 9 years, and I know the ownership of the whole franchise has shifted since the release of the game, but come on Reach is pretty much tied with Halo 3 for the the best halo game. I personally put Reach over 3 but that’s just me. But I mean just in comparison to the newer Halo games I personally feel like Halo reach and 3 in all reality of it are better in majority of aspects other than maybe graphics. Ya OK it’s not the newest game on the block and sure it was Xbox360 and not XboxOne. But I mean that cross play is there. And there’s still a lot of potential there. Mind you a sequel is a no because all of Noble Team fell in the line of duty but that being said I personally think after the successful aspects from previous games, that things like the mini campaign system from Halo 4, or PvP game modes from the Master Chief Collection (minus the cross game play) could certainly be added. Maybe reopen nameplates, add in new game modes, requisitions, upgrade the servers to be a little more stable, who knows maybe even some new maps.
Now I know what you’re thinking “WP going back like that is [Insert Negative Phrasing Here]” or "WP that game is to old" or whatever it is that crosses your mind. But think about it. With exception of maybe the MCC, (which being that it was a bundle of previous games I have a hard time counting simply because it wasn’t a original idea, rather a reuse of previous ones), the 5 other games to follow in reach’s footsteps haven’t does as well. Now the list of possible reasons for that Is a mile long, and in some shape or form they all probably have some truth to them. And while yes we do have have Halo Infinite on its way, I see one underlying fact that looms over. The trend of game quality and success is on the downward slop. And this year represents that all to well. Name a game or company that makes them and it’s recent works don’t do to well. For most companies this has been a downward trend throughout 2018 and even going back for late 2017. In the companies that haven’t released in that time frame, it’s simply a matter of looking back to their last release to see the same trend being present. SO, rather than keep pushing forward, why not step back to the games that have done well. Take the parts and pieces of the recent games in years, that have done well, and implement them to the games that have done well prior to. Whether that’s simply dragging these games out of the mothballs, or doing complete remasters, And I mean remaster in the old sense, not slap it in a new fancy box, slap the word remastered on to it, and set it up for the newest system. I mean like actually going to town. Graphics, bugs, servers, minor mechanics upgrades, and coding, the whole 9-yards.
I know that this isn’t the norm in the gaming industry but I think that with recent event that a good change in what is done would be a good option.
