I recently had to factory reset my Xbox One console, and i lost my Halo Waypoint armor unlocks for Halo: Reach.
I was wondering if there was some way to get my unlocks back without having to start up my Xbox 360.

From what I’ve been able to gather, the Xbox 360 is incredibly important in regards to these specific unlocks. Loading up Halo Waypoint on the Xbox 360 and going to the section which shows the Halo: Reach unlocks is likely the only way of unlocking them again.
It should also be noted that I’ve yet to hear (or see) those unlocks disappearing on the Xbox 360.
No worries OP, none of the various armor variants actually impart any advantages nor do those exclusive versions count towards your 100% armory completion. You’re not missing out on anything!

I don’t think you grasp why they didn’t want to lose them.

Lose what exactly? Armor variants are completely meaningless. Unless you know something that I don’t, of course. I have 100% armory completion without the preorder GameStop code I was supposed to receive. I have the various waypoint armors and happen to know that none of them impact gameplay at all whatsoever.

Why is armor customizable in Halo in the first place? For the sake of personalizing your Spartan. If you lose access to a piece of armor that you feel looks cool or is a nice visual reflection of how you play then of course that isn’t something to celebrate.
That old bug on Halo: Combat Evolved when being played on the Xbox 360 which caused the textures to weapons on the ground to not load was a visual issue that I’m glad was fixed even if it didn’t affect the gameplay in any way. Even though it was a small thing, fewer bugs is always a positive.

Does anyone really care about armor pieces that do nothing in regards to gameplay? I’d understand this if, for example, these special unlockable armors did something like deflect the occasianal AR pellet or plasma bolt.
However, contrary to popular belief(I also, upon the game’s release, mistakenly thought that certain armors would assist gameplay), all of the various armor pieces purchased with Cr or unlocked via waypoint confer zero advantages to the player; a default spartan played by a first-time player of the game has the same “advantage” as someone like me who became an inheritor 7 years ago. Am I missing something?

You aren’t missing anything, but you completely ignored what I just said about personalizing your in-game appearance.
Assuming you need glasses, would you be cool with any old pair? Any glasses prescription is based on your own eyesight, so big goggles like Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys, while goofy, does the same as something a little more visually appealing.
Oh, I remember how I was trying to get that waypoint chest piece. It is quite sad to lose it.

This comparison makes no sense. I’m talking about Reach not real-life issues.
I’ve seen a lot of posts recently about players trying to unlock various armors as if they are missing out on something by not being able to procure them, so I figured I’d let the OP know that not only do they have no effect on gameplay they don’t count against getting 100% armory completion.
If the various pieces you unlocked imparted different tactical advantages then I’d certainly be on board with unlocking every possible armor, however as-is it’s rather pointless. Actually, thinking about this more, the larger pieces may simply make it easier for opponents to hit and/or stick you as I clearly remember landing a sticky on a player’s katana in Halo 3.
Were armor to matter it would have to be in a situation like this: let’s say you encounter a group of players that are using the handicap settings. Let’s use jet pack as an example. Either you stay in the same room or remember them and encounter them again… with all the time you have during the voting process you can be changing your armor appropriately to deal with their unskilled playing style. In this instance, a particular helmet and possibly the shoulder pieces would feature protection against overhead shots. I’m not a game designer so I’m not sure what would be balanced here, but either these armors would outright absorb one shot and break off, or have a specific % chance to do the same, leaving the player vulnerable to the next shot.
As it stands, the armors are useless as they don’t do anything at all, even the exclusive ones like the red and blue flames.

Virtual personalization and real life personalization aren’t comparable? So, in both video games and the real world, you don’t make decisions based on what matches your personality the most when personalizing things?
Though I’m beginning to see that you’re likely just messing with me at this point (unless, of course, there’s some kind of issue you have,) so…

I’m sorry, but I have to side with BoundlessHalo97 on this. I mean, yes, you are absolutely right that the armour has no impact on gameplay but it is there to give your Spartan a unique look. That is why there are so many armour pieces available in Halo: Reach. The OP wanted to know if there was a way to retrieve the armour again because his Spartan was probably wearing it, or he feels justified in asking because he earned the armour pieces. I’m not saying they are difficult to unlock but time is invested into unlocking these armour pieces.

What unlocks?
Any and all unlocks you previously had on the Xbox 360, should be downloadable content on your Xbox One.
**Check My games & Apps, go to the Halo Reach tile, click Start. Scroll down to “Manage game & Add-ons”, click it.**Then all your DLC, and game unlocks should all be present right there for you to download. Pretty easy and simple to get them all back without booting up your Xbox 360 again.
Unless these unlocks were gotten through un-traditional methods such as license transfers, these will not transfer over to your Xbox One, therefore you will never gain access to said armors (such as red or blue flames) at all without going back to your 360 and selecting them.

I know this is late, but wanted to point this out. While what you state is true, that is not the case. The armor in this subject is not DLC, it is unlocked via Halo Waypoint app on 360. It’s a shame that there’s no section to get this armor the same way on the Halo Waypoint website, but what are you going to do?

This is just as late, but that’s wrong.
If you have already unlocked the armors, it’s as simple as doing exactly what I just said. I can even show you me wearing CQB, and Military Police on Reach right now on my Xbox One, being able to select it and all by doing exactly what I said in the previous comment.
If you don’t have them unlocked, then you’ll need to boot up your Xbox 360, go to Halo waypoint etc etc etc. This only applies when you don’t already have the armors unlocked. If they are already unlocked and you could equip them on the 360, just do what I said. It’s as simple as that.
