Halo Reach LASO Playlist

If someone were to join me halfway through the LASO playlist and finish it with me would they still get credited with the completion of the playlist? I’ve seen conflicting comments and I know that when MCC first came out you would get the achievement and nameplate but I dont know if this is still the case. Its very frustrating because people keep rage quitting about halfway through the campaign and I dont want to start over again. Has anyone tried this?

Sadly, they would need to play through the entire playlist for the achievement to unlock for them. I am sorry you have to deal with such difficult people in your quest to finish LASO. May I ask what mission you are at right now?

I actually ended up doing it solo and was able to get through the rest of the campaign on my own. It’s way easier by yourself lol. I was on the very end of long night of solace when the guy I was playing with quit on me. I wonder why they would change it to not count for people joining part way through considering that’s how it was for years. Should get my last achievements tomorrow.

Congrats, dude! Well done!

In response to the bolded statement, before they required players to complete every mission in the playlist, people could get a checkpoint at the last mission in each LASO playlist, finish the mission, and earn the achievement. Although the final missions in Halo: CE and 2 were somewhat difficult, the final missions in Halo 3, ODST, and 4 were just cutscenes. All you had to do was find someone who had save-and-quit at those missions, join their game, and then finish it on your own. It was very exploitable, so they decided to stop awarding mission progress to players who had not finished the mission in the playlist.

Unfortunately, that brought a whole host of issues with Halo 2 LASO since people would start it on co-op, missing the first two solo-only missions. Then, when they would go back to complete the first two missions, the playlist would say 15/15, but it wouldn’t register the completion. The unfortunate thing about playlists is that even though you now have to have finished every mission for it to count as completed, it will not actually register the completion until the player finishes the final mission in the playlist. So, if you play the missions out of order and don’t finish on the last mission, you don’t get the completion.

That’s why I and several others in the community still hang on to LASO playlist saves. Our goal is to help players that have been struck by this bug work around it most easily. It is a long-standing bug, likely because it is fairly low priority. Recently, they did say they were fixing Halo 2 to make it so skipping over The Heretic and The Armory works on co-op, so hopefully we’ll see a decrease in the number of people needing the saves once that update comes out.
