So I loaded up Halo: Reach on my Xbox One and began playing again for nostalgia. I’m a completionist when it comes to the items in the armory, and I like to grind credits to get that stuff. Grinding the credits was really easy online playing firefight with friends. A few months ago I had to cancel my Xbox Live Gold subscription to save money due to the pandemic, and ever since I started playing Reach now, I’ve been finding it hard to earn credits in offline modes. I know daily & weekly challenges are one way to earn some credits, but yesterday all my challenges were multiplayer matchmaking-related, so I’m not as confident in that option, lol.
Any reliable way that I can grind credits offline? Campaign and offline firefight have been incredibly stingy.
You can grind campaign commendations without gold membership search “Halo: Reach target locator credits” I’ve maxed out all campaign commendations twice on individual accounts it’s 100% ok to do, you can also find tutorials on YouTube for the other commendations for your cR without gold Xbox live just type in the exact name of the commendation… “Halo Completionist” on YouTube has a playlist for some commendations if you need them titled “Halo: Reach Commendations” Edit, Onyx commendations is the last that gives you cR and increases amount cR from Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold & Onyx… Onyx MAX gives 0cR and I did it for grinding purposes not cR. Try grinding silver or gold on multiple commendations if Onyx takes too long. Google Halo Reach Commendations and pick link with halo.fandom site, it will even show you how much cR you get. Top 2 easiest are “Flawless Cowboy”+“Demon” & the Target Locator grind, these are the two easiest methods and contain multiple challenges for easy credits without Xbox live membership.

I heard that the target locator method was patched. I vaguely remember trying it a long time ago but I don’t think I had much success. Was it patched, or was I doing it wrong? lol

I maxed out Target Locator commendations earlier this year. Halo Completionist will guide you he’s 1 of the best out there for Halo guides. I forgot how to do most of the campaign commendations and couldn’t find any good guides on the ones I was missing, he helped me. The other more common commendations that are not in his playlist should be easy to find randomly on YouTube. “Flawless Cowboy” + “Demon” will not work in coop if you do the Save & Quit trick… this works only when playing alone solo.

The main issue with Commendation grinding in the Halo Reach campaign is that it will only provide a limited amount of Credits. The main source of Credits from commendations is the Credits given from progressing commendations. However, this credit bonus will only be applied when commendations are at Iron and Bronze.
However, based on my own findings. The most effective method to grind credits in Halo reach if you don’t have access to matchmaking is to play a maximum of 10 minute games and to complete daily / weekly challenges.
