Halo: Reach had the best campaign!

…but the worst multiplayer.

Not by a -Yoinking!- long shot.

While repetitive, Halo CE had the most fun and satisfying campaign of the series.

This is actually a contender for the worst, imo. If it wasn’t for the fact that I hate Halo 4’s story so much, I’d say this WAS the worst. It just doesn’t hold up to the others, imo. At least Halo 3: ODST’s was enjoyable to experience, even if it was laughably short.

Halo 3: ODST Campaign master race.

I loved the Reach campaign.CE is still my favourite though even if it feels a little stale since I have been through it so many times.

I agree with ThunderCavaler7, Reach is well regarded as having the worst campaign in the series. All of the Halo 1-3 campaigns were brilliant and epic in comparison. Reach multiplayer is fantastic but lets not get over excited and start hyping the campaign but then everyone is entitled to their difference in taste.

Most hardcore fans, will tell you that Halo 3 or Halo 1 had the best campaign of all time. For me personally, I’d easily go Halo 3, I played it online with my friends and it was magical. I loved the sand level with the choppers and the tanks. Every level was worth playing on 3.

Also a friendly shout out to Halo 2, while underwhelming in places, some levels and the music, were out of this world. I wish Halo 2 would be brought back so people could appreciate it again. To date, Halo 2 still has the best multiplayer of all the games.

Well regarded by who? I think it’s generally regarded as having one of the better campaign’s in the series.

Reach’s is probably the most consistently good. It doesn’t have any of the backtracking that made the latter half of CE’s campaign stale at times. It isn’t close to the abomination that Halo 2’s rushed, slapped together campaign was. And it doesn’t have a level that’s as god awful and rage-inducing as the Cortana level from Halo 3. Reach’s campaign was consistent in terms of quality, was well varied, and also saw the return as the Elites as the main enemy which were more fun to fight than they were in other campaigns.

I don’t know why it’s “cool” to hate on this game. The campaign was very strong and the MP was the most content-filled, feature-rich of any game in this entire series. “Herp derp armor lock, herp derp I can’t pace my DMR shots bloom sux” is all I ever hear about this game and it gets really old.

These are my top 3 campaigns:

  1. Halo 3: ODST
  2. Halo: Combat Evolved
  3. Halo 4

Halo 3 campaign for life. I enjoy it over Multiplayer.

I disagree. halo ce, halo 2, halo 3, and halo 4 all have better campaigns than reach.

I didn’t really like Reach’s campaign. Also Halo Reach had so much potential, it just felt to empty.

Reach has the best campaign and the best multiplayer. Best ending sequence as well.

I loved the campaign in halo ce, halo 2, halo 3, halo 3 ODST and reach. But the campaign in halo 4 was a bit too easy in my opinion and it wasn’t as open as the other halo games.

The second level of Halo 4 held promise. Seemed like a return of the wide open encounters the series is known for, but most of the rest of the campaign was meh. The forerunner art direction was horrible (specifically the Didact and his Prometheans), the story as a whole was pretty bad IMO (way too much bad sci-fi which Halo ISNT known for, and the Chief/Cortana love story is sold way too hard), and 343 probably rushed the prometheans and unsc too quickly into the story. They missed a big opportunity to have Chief and Cortana marooned on this massive/sprawling/mysterious Forerunner world (whose purpose is never in question by anyone in the game).

But as far as the original topic goes, I’ve shared my stance. Though Reach’s story contradicts some of the canon and I wasn’t attached to the characters aside from Jorge (who doesn’t like SIIs anyways?), the actual missions themselves are some of the most polished in the series and EASILY the most varied. It had massive nonlinear missions the series is known for, a stealth/sniping mission, space dogfights, zero gravity section, jetpacking with ODSTs, a flying mission, you get to man a friggin MAC cannon, and the post-credits sequence was very unique.

I cannot comment on the Multiplay since I’m usually only doing firefights, but I definitely love the campaign.

I actually felt like my character was part of a team in Reach. Playing Master Chief is fun, but sometimes, it just doesn’t feel like I’m part of the story. But with Reach and ODST, I really felt like I was myself.

=d

Reach comes in 3rd on Halo CE, and and Halo 3. But, My GOODNESS I loved it!! ODST comes in 5th, because I had no danged freinds to play it with! I never did find all the audio logs.

I think reach had the best campaign. CE was boring imo. Too much time passes between fights same goes for ODST. Halo 4 is fun to play a few times, but due to the linear nature of the level designs it gets boring fast. I played something like 20+ days worth of campaign in reach. On my own, with friends, doing LASO missions etc. There was so much fun to be had. And leaving the maps to explore the wilderness. Warthog racing. Using banshees(The package). Club errera, the list goes on. Halo reach had some many different thing to pass the time enjoy and wonder at. While halo 4 is stunning to behold, there is nothing behind its beauty. There is no reason to replay the campaign once you have all the terminals and achievements. And with that I conclude my two cents

BTW I played halo 3 and loved it but I spent more time playing reach. Never played Halo 2 so cant comment on it

I’d easily say Halo 4 currently has a worse multiplayer than Reach. There were one or two things that bothered me in Reach like armor lock or jetpack but in Halo 4 it’s a whole list. It seems to me that half of the features for Halo 4 were ripped from CoD/Battlefield and the other half were just two 14 year olds talking about what would be cool with no regard for balance. “Hey man! Know what we should have? A perk that let’s you see through walls!” “Good idea!” “And a weapon that you start with that’s more powerful than the sword or the shotgun close up!” “Yeah! I hate those guns! They always kill me!” “Oh, and I hate having to try to get headshots with the sniper. I always miss. How about a sniper gun that can kill with one hit no matter where you shoot them!” “And how about a cool robot but it has shields so it’s harder to kill! But it also has a turret on one arm and a rocket launcher on the other!”

Reach had soooooooo much damn potential yet it failed miserably

to begin with spartan 3s were NEVER supposed to be on Reach.

I expected to be the Chief and kick -Yoink- with blue team along with massive explosions and actually feeling desperate to save reach.

the only missions that captivated the desperation at a small degree was Exodus (the mission after Jorge<3 throws you off the corvette). and Lone wolf obviously.

Reach is my fav, it was PERFECT. Smooth difficulty curve, epic music, and drastically varied level design/fresh gameplay and aesthetics/style. This campaign was beast.

I don’t know what the deal with MM is, but I do agree Reach had a horrible lineup before the forge additions.

It wasn’t the best, but it was awesome. Being able to carry your spartan between multiplayer and campaign was the best part.
