Halo: Reach Guest Profile

Hi, I need help.
i just downloaded Halo Reach, but I can’t customize my Spartan not save any data(if I get through a level and turn off the Xbox one, when I turn it on again it’s all deleted) because it says I ha a a guest or temporary profile.
How can I solve this?

Were you signed in under your account? Do you have Xbox Live Gold?

Im from Mexico and i don’t have gold currently. Do I need it?

Yes, in order to customize your character you’re going to need it. That way it has a profile to save to.
