Halo Reach Free Games With Gold

Hi,

Does anyone know how I can fix this problem … or if there is a fix at all ??? Please dont write move to a new country … :stuck_out_tongue:

First of all, I live in Bangladesh.

I have been an XBox loyalist since the original XBox came out and an XBox Live member since I bought my XBox 360 in 2005. I have had no problems whatsoever and now Im using my gold membership on my XBox One Console with no problems. I am playing online, buying any game on both the consoles.

But why is it that when Im trying to download Halo Reach with Games with Gold, it says “This item isnt available from your current location” after I press on Confirm Purchase. So does that mean this deal is available in specific countries ?? I have downloaded the other free Games with Gold on both consoles before with no problems. So why specifically this game??? Im pretty sure if I purchase it, then there wont be a problem.

For some reason I never got to play Halo Reach, but now Im gearing up for the upcoming Halo Mater Chief Collection on my XBox One and since this is the prequel, I really wanted to play it before I download the Master Chief collection.

I guess theres no point writing this thread … just sharing my pain. :frowning:

I’ve some bad news and good news.

Bad news is that XBL isn’t official released in Bangladesh (which I guess you know ;)) and that means there are problems with licenses and stuff. I live in Poland and I had very similar problem. In 2008 I had to start my account on UK address, as there was no XBL in my country. When XBL arrived to my country I haven’t migrate (as I would lose licenses for all the stuff I’ve bought), and found that still some games (who were region locked) aren’t available. Even some games from Games for Gold program didn’t worked because of same problem as yours. My solution was to create Polish account for my fiance - all these region-locked games (and DLCs) suddenly became available for her account. That solution would not work for you, because XBL still isn’t officially available in your country. Until you physically go to country of your account and download game from there, there’s no other solution.

If you’re really desperate you can create Indian account (if that’s not already country of your account, however I’m not sure if for first month Gold is still free - as it was when I last checked), go there, download the game and comeback. However, you probably admit, that’s stupid (and buying some used copy of Reach is much less expensive ;)).

Good news is that Reach’s multiplayer sucks compared to any other Halos (even Halo 4 haters used to admit that). Even though I know that’s not what you wanted to hear…

I am trying an idea now, can’t confirm until tomorrow if it really worked…

I have been on Live since original Xbox days too, but I am on an assignment out of my home country (Canada) so I got the “This item isn’t available from your current location” message too.

My workaround: I logged into Xbox Live from my computer, searched for Halo Reach and clicked the “Buy Game” link - it shows $24.99 however at the payment confirm screen it shows the Games for Gold price (free!!!). After confirming the free “purchase” the game is queued for download the next time your Xbox is on and connected to Live.
NOTE: I didn’t sign out of the Xbox while I did the above, it still worked.

Next I went to the menu for Active Downloads - Halo Reach showed up and in the past 20 minutes it went from pending to 0% and now it is up to 10%, I will see in the morning if I can play the game (guessing/hoping YES)

Of course my account was always set up in Canada so this fix may not work for you? Good luck in any case. I have enjoyed the Games with Gold program a lot, for the ones I missed first time around and even for games I own (or owned in the past). I’m not getting online as much as I used to but this program has kept me a subscriber when I otherwise might have dropped out.

Enjoy!

Well, unfortunately it downloaded fully but doesn’t work. I could see the game on my Xbox, however when I tried to start it I got a message “The game could not be played”. Looking from my storage menu Halo Reach shows up as “Corrupted”.
I will try one more download but it looks like this workaround is also blocked, I am still hoping that when I return to Canada the game works, I will use the disc while I am overseas.

I will call Xbox Live support for clarification and assistance.

Yeah dude sorry man, it sucks to live somewhere thats not supported i don’t myself but i know how it feels to miss out on deals on great games but yeah… sad thing is it’s not released and Bangladesh.
