halo 4s forge doesnt beat halo reaches forge in any aspect but small details like stairs in allot of reaches models buildings
it is so much smaller thn reaches forge
forge world shouldve been included in halo 4s forge
also it seems im the only 1 thinking this?
seriously theres only so much u can create in halo 4s forge maps they all suck balls
halo 4s forge maps are limiting ur freedom and imagination in forge tht it did have in reach

i know this is halo 4 and this is the sequence of halo 3 and halo reach is much more wide open
but still this is not ranked matchmaking this is forge FFS the point is to have fun
at the end id like to see a halo 4 forge map the size of halo reach forgeworld but with allot more flat land to build on + the ability to put down trees also id be awsome if u could decide urself to put down blocks of water or earth like u put down grid

Halo 4’s forge mechanics are superior.
I’d take halo 4’s colorful and unique maps over halo reach’s GREY.
Only bad thing about halo 4 is probably how restricted it is. you can’t use much of the enviroment in the forge maps… and many of the other maps have no forge pieces at all.
I can’t even tell you how stupid this post is. 100% disagree.

it looks like veryone has lost his mind how can anyone prefer halo 4s limited forge to halo reaches forge freedom? i agree forge pieces have become better in halo 4 but u cant beat reaches freedom

Non grey maps.
3 different forging maps.
forging is safer and faster.
can make remakes that look exactly the same as the real one.
forge ideas and capabilities are endless. (Should’ve seen this giant spaceship, I’m talking FUD huge. ofc not that big but it was HUGE)
You are stuck on forge world’s size, the fact halo 4 forge isn’t as big you think it limits what you can do but you are wrong. I have seen too many beautiful halo 4 maps to say reach forgeis better.
I agree. Making the graphics pretty is a poor tradeoff for a shrunken sandbox.
Plus, this is the introduction of the forerunners. You would think there would be a few forerunner objects to place around, but no. There is only that awkward half-circle thing in ravine. The unsc stuff looks out of place most of the time, and other than weapons and vehicles, there is no sign of any decorative covenant objects. Impact’s pieces are some of the only innovative pieces added to forge.
Hell, halo 3’s forge had more sandbox variety than this.

See now I think you are just a hater, Impact is the best of the 3 but to say it sucks ad the others do too is BS. I download a Ravine map that has a crashed plane on it.The way it looks you could NEVER do in Reach and I have Pit remake on there, Ravine is a good forging map.
The only bad thing I find with H4 forge is there is not enough flat ground.

I actually forge quite a bit. I’ve completed 7 maps in halo 4’s forge. I’ve forged since its first release and it is light years ahead of where it was when it was first released.
First lets look at forge world vs halo 4 forge maps.
Forge world is not in my personal opinion any where near as good as the halo 4 forge maps. While they are not perfect, they are a great start. They have plenty of space to forge any type of actual map you may want to do. Small maps, not a problem. Mid size maps? cake walk. Large maps? Plenty of room.
Forge world had 2 downfalls in my personal opinion.

The sheer amount of rendering that needed to be done on any map made in forge world made for some atrocious frame rate lag.

Every map looked and felt almost exactly the same thing. The only difference was how the pieces lined up and what shapes the creator made them fit together.
With halo 4’s unique pieces ever map can look and feel differently.
I personally only have 3 small gripes about halo 4 forge.

The small shift that occurs when you load up a map that you’ve made to edit it some more. Each piece shifts a small degree for no reason, it can be somewhat frustrating but i’ve learned to deal with it.

Not enough flat land for vehicular based maps. Each of the halo 4 forge maps have plenty of space for any type of map you may want to make, but not a lot of room for natural vehicular play.

Everything else in H4’s forge is superior.
IMO the H4 maps are way too small, would have liked 3 forge world sized maps. Other than that it could have used a lot of polish work, as it is some magnates are in the wrong spots, there is no fine tuning, there is a glitch where every time you save the map all the forge blocks rotate by 1 degree, when you have a lot of blocks on the map it stops generating lighting, the list goes on.
Its better in some ways, but Reach was a lot more polished.

(Edit: Btw, after reading a few more replies I see a lot of people saying “ohh, the blocks are a lot different from Reach!” Uhh, you guys know that 95% of the blocks are just re-textured Reach blocks… Right? Its exactly the same…)

The majority of forge pieces are reskinned from reach. That bland grey color people were complaining about turned into a bland off white. Yay.
I will give you impact’s unique pieces, but erosion’s pipes? It would have been cool if you could crawl around inside them and make a tunnel system, but theyre just another solid piece. And then ravine just has random buildings and stuff that could have easily been made with the pieces from reach that were already provided.

That was a persistant problem in reach too, and its embarrasing that 343i didnt fix this for halo 4’s forge. Dont deal with it, tell 343i to fix it!

Less vehicles in halo 4’s sandbox than the last few previous halo games = less need of vehicle-dedicated maps. This is one of the reasons the race community left.

Hardly.
Most of the pieces have been re skinned since the forge was first released. I never expected them to just add a whole new palette.
I like and have used erosions unique pieces quite a lot.
Not really that many less vehicles and honestly never really needed to keep adding to them.
We lost the pelican, chopper and seriph, but added the mantis. Only really a -2 not a major deal.
I also dont have a single problem making my maps colorful with a purpose, much more so than reach ever was.
