Remember in Halo 3 that all the playlists were DLC required to forcing us to buy the maps? I have started this thread to see if we can this put into Reach. It worked out well in Halo 3 because we had a better chance of getting the DLC maps in matchmaking. Many people are complaining that they cannot get the DLC achievments because we barely to play the maps that we paid for. I believe that this popular feature should be put into reach for this exact reasons.

well there is the possibility of that, but Bungie took the riskof it with H3 and it worked.
I disagree. There will always be enough people playing with the maps, or others will purchase the maps, and we’ll finally be able to actually play on our purchased content.
I can hardly remember what Highlands looks like.
I think a lot of the community still playing Halo: Reach have purchased the maps, but there’s always the odd one who hasn’t which ruins it for everybody in Matchmaking. By forcing it, you either get those people to purchase the DLC or weed them out of Matchmaking.
It’s just irritating that your purchased content is hardly playable except for on your own in Custom Games.
I support this thread simply because I rarely get the chance to play on my purchased content. I actually thoroughly enjoy many of the DLC maps and when there was DLC playlists I play them all the time… and now I miss them

I concur, Reach doesn’t have much time left anyway. It’s not like 343i doesn’t have other options than making DLC required for all playlists from now until the servers shut down.
They could for example make one or two playlists require DLC for just the weekend, maybe even put the super jackpot in that playlist to encourage people.
Though at this point Halo 4 comes out it what, five weeks? Measured responses like my suggestion won’t really be sufficient at this point I think.

Would it be a bad time for me to cackle with laughter?
Also, this should never happen. Most people don’t have the DLC, so the population will drop even further.
They just need to have DLC playlists. Living Dead DLC and DLC Team would be perfect. It’s ridiculous that they have achievements that require you to be on a DLC map, and yet make it next to impossible to get those maps thanks to the cheapskates who won’t just buy the maps. I got Temp Credit banned because me and my friends filled up a MM lobby with guests to get the achievements. I would’ve done it legit, but since finding a 1 Flag CTF match on a defiant map is rarer then seeing an albino leprechaun riding a three-legged, undead unicorn, I had to cheat. It was either fill a lobby with guests and my friends so we didn’t hurt anybody, or go it alone and disconnect every time I don’t get the gametype/map I need, leaving my team short a man. On top of that, I just want to be able to play the maps. What the hell was the point of buying the DLC if I can’t play it?
It was done for Halo 3 and there was no significant issues. At the very least, they should require it for all playlists except for maybe one or two playlists to satisfy those who won’t purchase the DLC.
But like I said, many of the fans still playing Reach likely have purchased the maps and will be happy to weed out those who didn’t.
I agree that 343I needs to do something to prevent boosting and allow players to complete achievements with dedicated playlists or just make them available on all maps.
You really think anyone’s going to pay for Reach Maps this close to Halo 4? I can guarantee that at this point, all foricng people to buy map packs will do is stop them from playing.

facepalms
I still don’t have all the maps yet so . . .
By the way why should people without the maps be kicked out of matchmaking?
The only reason it did so well in Halo 3 was because a lot of people actually played the game commonly, and actually bought the DLC, Reach?
Different story entirely.
Halo 3: ODST also shipped with Halo 3 Mythic in the end, which had all the DLC on it, so it was a bigger success.
Anyone remember the day BTB Heavies was added? Big Team Battle became DLC required for a few hours, the population dropped from 4000-6000 players to 1200, solid proof that a majority of players simply don’t own the DLC.

It worked for halo 3 because bungie made that move early in that games life. Its too late to make that move for reach now. Plus not making a multiplayer disc with all the dlc like what they did with halo 3 didn’t help. The best they can do for reach now is put back the playlist.

I disagree. I think it worked for Halo 3 because Halo 3 was good enough for people to want DLC.
Halo 3 was a “must-play” game. Halo: Reach was a “Well, I don’t really have anything else to do” game, and few people are willing to invest additional money in those sorts of games.
