Halo Reach, Did you know

A collection of interesting facts from and about Halo Reach, some obvious some not so obvious. Feel free to add your own

Did you Know - On Anniversary Settings it is possible to completely negate fall damage by crouching on impact

Did you Know - Anniversary maps feature Grenade Launcher that has 7 clips when picked up while the normal max for a Grenade Launcher clip on pick up is 5

Did you Know - The Brute is the only enemy that requires him to be unaware of your presence to assassinate him

Did you Know - In campaign Assassinations will alert nearby enemies while a beat down will not

Did you Know - Shooting a wraith in the small box like opening in the back dramatically reduces its kill time by nearly 4x

Did you Know - The mongoose is the only vehicle with a passenger seat that is inaccessible without a driver

Did you Know - Standing on an upside down man cannon causes the player the gravitate towards the opposite end

Did you Know - Dying as the Forge Ball will revert the HUD to a Halo 3 styled Forge HUD

Did you Know - if you break out of the map the water outside Forge World is solid and can be walked on

Did you Know - the Frag grenade can sometimes stick to a player

Did you Know - Although rare a Suicide grunt can die immediately upon grabbing his plasma grenades for no reason

Did you Know - There is a grunt in the campaign that talks about dreaming in English

Did you Know - Brutes have a tendency to Kill themselves on explosive objects

Did you Know - Elites and Brutes are the only enemy to use Armor Lock

Did you Know - In campaign friendly AI wield more than 1 Armor Ability as they can both sprint and Armor Lock

Did you Know - Pre-TU the only way to force a player out of Armor Lock was to remove the floor underneath them

Did you Know - While playing as an elite in Firefight your damage and health is based on the difficulty you’re playing on

Did you Know - on Penance every 10 or so minutes a grunt will fall down the water fall in a barrel

Did you Know - You can destroy the main gun on a Scorpion and Wraith (thanks to LAZERAK47)

Did you Know - You can pivot covenant land vehicles while they’re in mid-air

Did you Know - while in a covenant land vehicle you can survive an otherwise lethal fall by tilting the nose down and boosting before impact

Did you know:

Grunts will go suicide if you Camo near them on Heroic or harder.

If you shoot the Wraith in the gun with the Scorpion (or the Scorpion in the cannon with the Wraith), it’ll blow the main weapon off completely, leaving it defenseless. This is particularly effective on Boneyard.

If you jump in the gunner seat of a Wraith in Campaign or Firefight, the driver will jump out, leaving you with a perfectly intact Wraith.

Holograms do not appear on the radar, nor do they have a gamertag above them.

You can talk to the Covies if you play as an Elite in a custom Firefight game, much like Noble Six can talk to marines and his fellow Spartans.

The Needler is the only automatic weapon that is actually less accurate the closer you are to the target.

You can survive a Sticky grenade if you glitch it through a wall (evading, having it stuck to your weapon).

You can actually kill with the impact of a Sticky grenade.

The Plasma pistol has a higher damage rate if fired rapidly rather than overcharged.

The Grenade Launcher’s EMP does not inflict health damage.

Just a couple more tidbits I discovered while playing.

Even if the player still has full shields a well placed shot from a GL can kill your opponent in one shot. Not only does it inflict health damage, it has bleedthrough.

Did you know it’s the same with the Ultras too

did you know - that you can punch out a hidden dmr supply cache on The Pillar of Autum, at the end before you meet capt keyes.

lol thats all i got

Updated the OP. Keep em coming guys

Some good stuff here

Did you know the DLC achievements are annoying as hell to get :stuck_out_tongue:

There is an Elite on Sword Base (Campaign) that is capable of dual-wielding.

If you’re a spectator, committing suicide during Halo Chess will allow you to respawn as an unarmed Spartan or Elite for the duration of the turn.

If you go to Sword Base’s large window, and look out of it at a skewed angle, you can see that the mountains outside just “end” before connecting to the building.

In Forge, coloring an object by changing its team will yield more vibrant colors than if you use the “Object Color” setting.

Forge World’s “Green” and “Old Timey” filters can stack. Placing more than one intensifies the effects greatly.

Then explain to me why when I was getting spammed with the GL’s EMP, I never took health damage. What you are referring to is the primary explosion (meaning the grenade exploded right next to you) My health was actually regenerating while getting hit by EMPs. As for the Hologram, you are correct.

You are partially correct in that statement. Elites who are dual-wielding cannot be assassinated by a player they are targeting. Ultras with standard-issue weapons can, however.

> Did you Know - On Anniversary Settings it is possible to completely negate fall damage by crouching on impact

This has always worked in all modes.

> Did you Know - Anniversary maps feature Grenade Launcher that has 7 clips when picked up while the normal max for a Grenade Launcher clip on pick up is 5

Also true in some of the default Bungie maps like Paradiso.

> Did you Know - The Brute is the only enemy that requires him to be unaware of your presence to assassinate him

Also any enemy that is dual wielding.

> Did you Know - There is a grunt in the campaign that talks about dreaming in English

Actually any grunt has a possibility of saying this.

> Did you Know - Brutes have a tendency to Kill themselves on explosive objects

Hilariously

Did you know holding down the right bumper after shooting the Grenade Launcher will prevent it from detonating until you let go? A skull will appear on the Grenade Launcher’s screen when an enemy is on it.

Did you know, that in the map Condemned, that the flames of the explosions from the Sabres in space are purple/blue wen they are supposed to be red/orange.

Did you know, that the Banshees in Condemned are the ground assault ones when they are supposed to be the space ones.

Did you know, that in Halo Reach, the original 3 Defiant Achievements are able to be done in customs? (Not confirmed if there has been a patch for this or not.)

> Did you know holding down the right bumper after shooting the Grenade Launcher will prevent it from detonating until you let go? A skull will appear on the Grenade Launcher’s screen when an enemy is on it.

Actually the skull appears if anyone is on the nade including yourself. And if more than one player is near it it will have X2 or X3 depending on how many are in its range.

It also displays the distance you are from the nade you launched so if youre holding the trigger down and somehow forget exactly where the nade is just move around until the distance starts dropping and eventually youll find it.

Did you know?

If you land a nade launcher nade in a bad spot it is possible to step on it nudge it along and move it to a better spot. (it doesnt move very much each nudge and its hard to get it to roll exactly where you want it)

The hotter you let a wepon get that has to dissipate heat the more energy per shot it uses. So try and keep them focus rifles cool.

If you are careful you can melee the scorpions tread covers off making it weigh less and making the treads a bit more responsive to changes in terrain. SO it moves faster responds faster to throttle input it negotiates rough terrain better. ( I once had a scorpion with every piece knocked off it you can. The tread covers, the driver seats hatch, the turret, etc…etc… and it was almost a hot rod. It can actually do little baby hops over small bumps and climb much steeper grades)

That if you are locked onto a target with the plasma launcher and you have it charged up or charging let go of the trigger so it starts launching then quickly move the aiming reticle over another target and if youre quick enough youll get a red lock on indicator the moment the reticle is on the enemy but it only lasts about 1/2 second then it starts reacquiring a lock but if you launched a plasma ball in that 1/2 second it remains locked at tracks the target. so if timed right you can launch plasma at two seperate targets and have the projectiles track them.

Not many people realise that if you hold down I believe its the RB it allows your right sticks X axis or Left and right to control the roll of the sabre.

That when youre in the passenger seat of the Revenant and you have a sniper rifle the sniper rifles auto-aim is AMAZING!!! Your drive can be driving like a drunken caveman and when your aiming reticle gets near an enemy and it turns red guaranteed hit 100% of the time and almost every time its a headshot. Ive gone 32 and 0 in TU BTB Heavies from the passenger seat of the revenant and a highly skilled driver who understands how to control the revenant to best accomidate a sniping passenger.

It’s possible to jump higher. It work in every game modes.

Gave the OP two more delicious facts. I’m really loving some of the things you guys are coming up with, keep em going!
