Halo Reach Armor Customisation

We need to have the customisation like halo reach, its been a long time since reach and I feel halo has took a step back in the customisation department. I loved it when I could actually choose my Spartan to my preference and not choose two parts of my armour. Its too late for halo 5 to change the armour system but for the next halo we need Reach customisation.

So have a single armor set with a bunch of attachments? No thanks, I’d rather have Halo 4’s system where we can choose every piece individually.

Now if they added attachments to Halo 4’s system, then it would be great. But I would not want to go back to Reach’s customization.

Dude you dont even know what you are talking about lol. Reach allowed you to customize your individual pieces of your armor. You had, Helmet, Shoulders (left and right), Wrist, Chest, Knee Guards, Visor, Utility and then you had the attachments that went with the helmets alone. Halo 4 took a step backwards and even so Halo 5. Reach had it best.

No, I do. The only pieces that you could change were the helmet and knees. Shoulders added onto already existing armor, same with the chests, arms, and droplegs.

You clearly don’t know what you are talking about. The only armor in Reach is the Mk V with various attachments and helmets.
Atleast in Halo 4 I could actually change all the armor pieces and not just put stuff on them.

New system is better I think, feels more classic and simple like should be pick your favorite helmet and body armor. Colors. Get right into matchmaking

Right…SHM

We need a system not based around RNG and around actual achievement.

I’ll grant you that Halo: Reach held far more Armor Customization options than any other Halo game to date, but I feel like the drawback was that only the Helmet was a true choice while all others were accessories/add-ons atop the base MJOLNIR armor. If nothing else, the best compromise could be implementing Halo: Reach’s options atop Halo 4’s options:

  • Helmet
  • Visor
  • Shoulder (Left)
  • Shoulder (Right)
  • Gauntlets
  • Torso (Front)
  • Torso (Back)
  • Thighs
  • Greaves
  • Accessories (TACPADs, Combat Knife locations, etc.)

Hopefully, they might do this in one of Halo 5: Guardians’ future updates, but like G4MR x PoWeRz said, it may be unlikely.

I agree

I don’t think anyone in this thread is taking into consideration how many more Gold Packs we would need to open. Majority of players ever on Halo 5 will have every unlockable through REQs, and we keep complaining its too much. So if it’s too much, why add more stuff!? This thread contradicts with many other opinions.

I agree

I prefered Halo 4 customization, Reach felt like too much, Halo 4 customization was good with me, Torso, Helmet, Shoulders, forearms, and legs were just perfect.

Agreed. Halo: Reach had left shoulder, right shoulder, utility, knee, leg, wrist, armor effect, helmet (3 variants each), and chest. Halo 5 has helmet and body. Pathetic!

I would love to see the Halo Reach kind of customization being brought back to Halo 5.
Sadly it will never happen, I’m sure of it. Not even everything could be added to Halo 5, there are no wristbands, kneepads or utility cases for your spartan in Halo 5, just like the fact that there are no helmet attachments. ( it’s a shame, really )

The level of customization from Halo 4 would be possible though and I prefer that to Halo 5’s level of customization.

I liked Halo 3’s to be honest.
It wasn’t simple like Halo 5’s but It had just enough to make you spartans stand out. A mix of this and Halo 4’s would be great.

  • Helmet - Visor - Chest/Body - Left Shoulder - Right Shoulder - Legs

Halo 4 had better options than reach, also you couldn’t change the legs in reach, just the knee pads. And the armor was just accessories built over the base armor, which got old fast.

In Halo 4 you got more control over what your character looked like, if you drop effects and utility on top of the Halo 4 customization you would have the most options in a game to date.

Reach had everything. You could easily navigate to the piece of armor you want, then choose an option from a drop-down. Instead, in Halo 5, you have to cycle through hundreds of uber-shiny, very small pictures to find the specific one you want. For example: We have a few different designs for “Recruit” armor set. But in Halo 5, the Recruit sets are not anywhere near each other, as it depends when you open them in packs. In Reach, you could just choose it from a drop-down.

Also, instead of being horrible, white blotches on the armor, Reach actually had unique attachments that changed how the base armor looked. Now, we’ve got these white streaks that you can’t change the color of, they look horrible, and they don’t look good period.

Also, who is this guy, and how many ways is he wrong? Chest, Helmet, each individual shoulder, wrist, legs, knee caps, and visor were all customizable. How in the hell you think there was one set is beyond me. Reach had the best customization in any Halo, hands down.

I believe a large part of these complaints are the skins. It’s annoying that there are basically 5 different variants of the same Armor and Helmet merely with different skins. While Halo Reach had a large amount of unlocks ,IMO they were distinct and very different from each other, Halo 5’s are not. As far as the many people supporting the Halo 4 customization I honestly don’t remember it being very good, but I also played Halo 4 the least of any of the main series. I would still say that Reach’s would be superior with some tweaks.
First and foremost skins should be a separate unlock that can be applied to whatever armor you have equipped, similar to the way Helmets and visors work in Halo 5 now. This would cut down on clutter in the menus as well as eliminating the need to unlock multiple pieces of the same armor with different paint schemes.
The below options for the customization would be awesome, I would like to be able to customize the Left and Right of Gauntlets, Thighs, and Greaves though. It would also be nice to have voice customization since Spartans make callouts in MP and hopefully Halo 6 will release with a dedicated PVE mode.

Would you kindly take a look at THIS
In said picture you will CLEARLY see all the customization options for Halo Reach. Which include BOTH shoulders individually, helmet, knee guards, chest and I know for a fact you could change your wrists as well.

Halo 6 needs Reach-Levels of Customization. They can keep the same REQ path of earning if they want, just let us use the individual aspects of an armor when we earn the card.
