Halo Reach Anniversary Matchmaking

We would like to see a anniversary playlist in which you can choose from all the different maps and game types instead of the same map “Beaver/Battle Creek”.

Thank you

Sorry there are other maps than Beaver Creek but a gametype with armor abilities would be nice

> Sorry there are other maps than Beaver Creek but a gametype with armor abilities would be nice

Thats the whole point of it being called Anniversary. Its not supposed to have any armour abilities or any other game mechanics introduced in HAlo Reach. It was designed this way to play similarly to Halo CE’s multiplayer, so I highly doubt that Halo Reach mechanics will be included. Not to mention the fact that 343 doesn’t even fully support this game any more, they just keep the matchmaking server running like they do with Halo 3.

Phil’s right - that’s why many of us play AnniSlayer - no armour abilities! (Plus the 3sk Pistol!!)

I’m not going to lie. Before the playlist was butchered I enjoyed playing the “revamped” maps that were designed around Reach’s armor abilities. Especially the BTB maps. The standard “anniversary slayer” gametype is fun sometimes, but for the most part it is old and stale and there needs to be a full fledged anniversary/dlc playlist added back into the rotation even if it does split up the community even more.

And if we’re commenting on what needs to be brought back, maybe you should start with a DLC playlist as I’m sick of being put in games with people who don’t have DLC and you either can’t get the required achievements or your wasted money being vetoed(sp?) by cheap players.

Because let’s face it, you’re taking our money and not fulfilling it’s purpose.

Nowhere in the Xbox Live Terms of Service or descriptions of the map packs does it state that you are guaranteed to play the maps in online matchmaking. 343 has no legal obligation to add a playlist just for DLC maps (in an old game they hardly support anyway), since they have been made available in all other playlists in the game. If you were completely denied access to the maps, then you would be getting ripped off, but the maps are available to play at any time for all DLC owners in custom games.

343 have done everything they legally have to, so if you want someone to blame I suggest pointing your finger at those who convince people not to buy the DLC. If these people changed their backwards way of thinking, stopped telling people not to buy the DLC (that they themselves claim they want to play on so much) and tried to convince people to buy DLC instead, then the maps would show up more often as voting options.

To be perfectly honest microsoft isn’t making a ton of money on halo 3/reach dlc at the moment. There comes a point where the DLC should be released for free. All it would take would be for 343 to make it mandatory and microsoft to make it free and halo reach would improve drastically

NICE? Dafaq man! Anniversary is the only playlist that I can play where there are no armor lock spammers and spartan-jets that bombard you from the sky.

As I have stated in numerous other threads regarding this topic, Microsoft has a strict DLC policy in place that prevents any DLC with tied achievement being made free. Some game are exceptions to this (such as Gears of War 1, whose DLC is all free) since the DLC was made free before the policy took effect.

Look at Halo 3’s Heroic map pack and Cold Storage map. Both have no achievements tied and so are free to download. But the Legendary and Mythic map packs are still being charged money for since they have achievements tied. Same goes for all Halo Reach’s DLC and Halo 4’s (with the exception of Forge Island, which again came with no DLC specific achievements).

This is something Microsoft will not back down on, as it is still a source of revenue. And since Microsoft owns 343, they pretty much have the last say on anything related to the XBL Marketplace.

MLG playlist my friend! Well on Sanc and Countdown are jet-packs as map pick-ups but you don’t start with armor abilities so the game is much more fun.

Your point doesn’t make sense. Yes, the maps are available in custom games, while achievement map packs are NOT free, but you can’t unlock achievements in custom games. And FYI, I read the terms of service, nowhere does it mention anything about the DLC. The only reason they took out the DLC playlist is to make Reach slow, and repetitive. So players can migrate to something fresher, like the poor man’s version that is Halo 4. But if they don’t support it, then leave a DLC only playlist and let people who love a proper halo game to play it.

I never mentioned the Terms of Service. I mentioned a DLC policy that many other people on here seem to know about, so it must have some truth behind it if more than just me have heard about it. I never knew of such a thing until I joined the Waypoint forums. Otherwise why else does almost every game on Xbox 360 have paid DLC with tied achievements, even games going back 7-8 years? Like I said DLC is a big source of revenue for Xbox Live, so just because a small number of the Xbox Live community (and lets face it, at this point thats all Halo’s fanbase is) want the DLC for their favourite franchise to be free, doesn’t mean Microsoft have to do anything whatsoever.

The reason you can’t earn the achievements in custom games is because they are specific to online matchmaking, the main reason most people bought the game. It says as much in the achievement descriptions. My point was that if 343 completely denied access to the DLC in all aspects of the game, then you would be getting ripped off. But you can access the maps and play on them in modes other than online matchmaking. They are called custom games and forge. You were never guaranteed that you could play them in matchmaking, and no were does it state this. Therefore Microsoft/343 are legally doing nothing wrong. Try taking them to court and see how far it gets you.

And how does not having a DLC playlist make the game slow. Now that point makes no sense. If anything, actually having a DLC playlist would make the game slow, since it would divide up the community causing longer search times and laggier games. Halo Reach is NOWHERE near a proper Halo game, it was Bungie’s testing ground and the game that started the decline of the franchise. You want a proper Halo game, then play Halo 3 or Halo 2 over XBC. They are REAL Halo games.
