Halo reach: active camo, enemy markers around?

So ive noticed in halo reach, and halo 5: guardians, that when you use active camo, there are enemy markers al around you, moving around as if there is something there. There is nothing there. When I turn off camo, they go away. Can someone please tell me what this is/means, or if its some glitch or something

If you’re referring to the pre-game handicap setting that can give you partial camouflage, yeah it makes the radar all messed up. Once you get used to dealing with the unskilled kids that select it though you can rather easily pinpoint their location based on the amount of dots/triangles/darker dots which represent elevation. I love killing these types of kids as they probably think they are completely invisible to everyone and being extremely stealthy. Seeing as how 343 completely ruined the halo franchise I can’t speak for how it acts in halo 5 as I have no desire to ever play it but if it’s anything like reach the same as I wrote above would be true.

In Halo 5 it doesn’t have the enemy blips, but it’s a one time use and has a super short duration. On Reach I just aim for the middle of the blips and BAM!

That is the reslt of combining Active Camo with Radar Jammer from Halo 3. It’s basically to balance out, so it’s not OP. The same applies to Halo 4, this time however, they’re blue instead of Red which makes it kinda OP, but more counter-able. Halo 5 doesn’t have that jammer.

I have never heard of this in both games. However Reach’s camo is so weak, at least it’s better then Halo 2’s.

He’s talking about the several red dots that appear on the radar when you activate active camo. In Halo 4, they’re blue and in Halo 5 they’re non-existent.

Ya I know, I haven’t see this happening Reach or Halo 5. So I think he is just mistaking them for the actual people playing.

That was a quick reply. It’s the second today lol.

Hahaha, ya I’m on waypoint right now.

no, i mean like in campaign. as if it’s cloaked prometheans or something

There aren’t Promethean in Halo Reach And it’s not a glitch. When you activate the Active Camo ability, it swirls enemy blips all over your radar…wither playing in the Campaign or in Matchmaking. It’s kinda the games way of balancing out the fact that you are invisible. If you activate it, it also swarms those blips on the enemies radar too if they are close enough.

Active Camo is the same in both Campaign and Multiplayer. The dots are a sort of balance, so the un-cloaked victim gets to know that there’s someone cloaked.
As for the camo user, it’s like that to avoid a bit of camping, because it’s difficult to know which dot is real and which is not.

The Promethean AI have absolutely no connection to this. They we’re only discovered in the shield world Requiem, where they guarding the Didact, in 2558 while Reach is in 2552.

Like many others said, it’s uses to balance the armor ability. I use it numerous times myself, here!/ how to deal with active camo like I do:

When you use active camo: before you enter active camo, make sure you know where your enemy is on your motion tracker and when you enter it, keep track of their red dot. Also, when you are completely camoflaged and the enemy aims at you, their dot will not be red. And when you use active camo more and more like I do now, you can actually somehow distinguish fake players against real players.
(it comes down to noticing how their dots actually move: theirs will make sharper turns, perhaps alter their speed, stop moving, et cetera). Last tip: camoflage + crouching is almost always a victory for you.

When it’s used against you: most players make the mistake by camping, so their dot will stop moving and it will keep it’s position, unless they crouch! Crouching and standing still makes you, in all circumstances (unless actively changed in the gametype options), invisible on the motion tracker in all gametypes. Also, when you are surrounded by red dots, try to sort out the most centered one. And this last tip is all about perception, but stay focussed; maybe you can see some shimering light somewhere.

A lot of people will tell you that active camoflage is -Yoink-, but I’ve used it numerous times and most people actually don’t notice me. Just have the right weapons: shotgun, energy sword, plasma grenades, assault rifle and the needler, you know, something that can kill someone quickly in close quarters.
