Halo Purists?

Anyone else think that the same people who talked trash about people for wanting halo 3 CORE mechanics (capitalized because that was the ONLY thing purists were actually saying they didn’t want to change). Anyone think that these guys will be mad when halo 5’s game play mechanics (which i think are great) are changed for the sake of change in halo 6?

EDIT: Whoops i meant to say “the people who trash talked those that DID WANT halo 3 mechanics vs the new” Pretty much do you think the anti purists will become the “purists” one halo 6 rolls around?

Seems like those types will never be satisfied with what they get.

What core mechanics from Halo 3? Curious here.

Nope.

oh, you know, the ones

I’m one of those purists you speak of.

Change for the sake of change is never good. Any change from Halo 5’s mechanics that aren’t taking things back toward the original trilogy mechanics would be needless change in my eyes. If 343 decides to throw another curve ball and take some mechanic in a completely new direction(for example, something wacky like wall-running), I would hate it. If any of you hate a new change, I would sympathize with your position, but I would blame you for it if you’re one of the ones who didn’t oppose the needless change we’ve already endured.

Which ones exactly, is what I’m trying to say.

jumping, walking, and of course shooting. The specific details of these mechanics

Mainly, the movement mechanics. There was no need to force sprinting, thruster packs, and clamber into the game. The series was great without these things and they do more harm than good to the gameplay. Another problem is the ADS. It doesn’t add to the game, and only clutters up the screen where we used to have a simple, sleek crosshairs on the screen.

I am like 50/50 on the matter because I enjoy new halo stuff, regardless of what it is. But deep down I want a halo 3 or 2 clone, however I liked 4 and im enjoying a good amount of 5. So again I’m on the fence… Yes I think purists will be mad, people will say things like “I thought they would improve on 5” expecting halo 2-3 stuff, but get halo 5 features.

Its weird, I talked to an old friend that was pro at halo 2, and he’s actually a fan of alot of halo 5’s content, including micro-transactions. Yet the same friend hates reach and halo 4.

A game can have all of the elements in Halo 5 and be a fantastic game, just so long as the title of that game is not Halo. If 343 wanted to start a new series, and fill it with sprinting, shooting, aliens, flag capturing, thruster packs, ground-pound, and vehicles, I could probably play it and love it. However, when they make a game like that, and slap the Halo title on it, it means we are that much further from ever seeing a true Halo game again. And that is simply depressing.

I would much rather see 343 take what they’ve learned and built with their time making Halo games and apply it to something new. They are showing so little respect for the fans and the gameplay that got Halo its start.
