Halo Player Count Increase?

Do you think future Halo games player count should be increased?

Please leave your feedback on what you player count you selected and why.

I really would like to see the player count increase to 64, but would still be very happy with 24 or 32.

Halo has had a max player count of 16 since Halo CE, I think it is time to be increased, do you?

The core 4x4 would still remain and be a key element to Halo.

However the increase player count would only affect 1 playlist “BTB”. Or a new playlist would be created, and standard BTB 8v8 remains.

The increase in player count allows for Halo to have much bigger maps, which would allow for bigger drivable vehicles (Scarab/Mammoth) that have not been seen in a Halo FPS before.

This would also work great for Invasion or a UNSC vs Covenant play list. I think this would be amazing if done and implemented correctly.

I would only allow a player increase if it actually makes sense to do so. If they are offering a specific new gametype that requires like a 32 player count or whatever, then I’m all for it. However like you said, Halo is all about arena based gunplay and 4v4 works perfectly for this. No need to raise the player cap just because it is “expected” from the vast majority when it comes to Next Gen hardware.

True, but a hugh population do love BTB. And a increase in player count would make BTB more epic.

A return to Invasion would be great, if improved and with 32 Spartans vs 32 Elites. Would be amazing.

But an increase to 24 would also be awesome. Current maps would still work well with 24/32 players.

24 is the absolute max. I really can’t understand why everyone has always wanted to see a player count increase in Halo. It’s a smaller shooter… It isn’t Battlefield or Homefront. If you make Halo a 64 player game all of a sudden 4v4 no longer exists and 8v8 or 10v10 is the smallest player count playlist in the game. The maps would all increase in size because of this. The small amount of arena shooter left in Halo would be completely killed off. I’m absolutely against upping the player count in the basic Halo game.

The absolute ONLY way I would agree with Halo getting a 64 player count playlists is if it was an entirely different game sitting aside the currently offered Halo. If 343 want’s to hire a company to make a large scale Halo game then I’m all for it. Just don’t let it ruin what we have with Halo now.

16v16 or 24v24 might work for large maps. Probably just 16v16.

Anything larger, you’d need some serious sandbox tweaks.

And 64v64 would be plain ridiculous.

64, with Pelicans and all-our massive vehicular combat.

But also keep the smaller gamemodes with 4 vs. 4.

They could call the 32 v. 32 playlist “Huge Team Battle”. =P

I think 12v12 would be a nice choice.
16v16 at the most. Anymore would be pushing it a bit…

Agreed, I feel like 16v16 would be a good number, otherwise it starts to get too large, at least for me.

I’m all for having 24 or 32 players, but consider this.

Lobby and matchmaking wait time.

If you want to play a 16v16 Invasion game - how long will the wait be, before you have a full team?

12v12 would be ideal, or even 16v16 at the most for the bigger maps.

No more than 5v5 for smaller maps, but I’m content with the current 4v4 for small maps.
32v32 is ridiculous in a Halo game, the kill times would be awkward and gun fights would be very slow.

Halo has been and should really never surpass 8 vs 8, if they do expand it I hope they don’t surpass 12 vs 12 because this will only further push Halo from what it’s been known for and what made it good.

You make a map to play 12 vs 12, YOU HAVE TO HAVE SPRINT, which is a bad thing I think for MM.

A stable 8 vs 8 and I would play more BTB. Right now with no dedicated servers is iffy at best.

I say no more than 24 people total in one game. Anything more is too much. Halo isn’t exactly made for 32 vs 32. There are plenty of games that are. But a game type with a big enough scale to use a pelican would be cool. Small games types like 4 v4 will always be around, but what about medium and current big team gametypes? Will medium have to be redefined for halo if we get 12 v 12? I don’t think I’d play an 8 v 8 playlist BTB with a 12 v 12 BTB around. Would 8v8 become the new medium? Or will small and medium game type sizes be untouched with only big team types having a change in lobby size?

I say 64 would be great, maybe even more. You could make the same maps that work for 64 players work for smaller numbers down to 4v4 by simply blocking off strategic sections of the map via forge, and forcing the players into a smaller area.

The second biggest shooter in the industry, Battlefield, does it and they have a much larger player base than Halo so why not do it?

I say turn it into a jack of all trades game, there should be 16vs16 epic battles, but also the classic 4vs4, and Rumble Pitts for 6, or 16 players…that being said 64 is a bit too excesive, im sure you havent played BF3, the more the players the less you matter on the battlefield

We’re discussing Spartans here.

300

16 VS 16 would be acceptable if Pelicans, Falcons, Banshees etc came into play on a map about triple the size or more of Ragnarok.

I would think that if Halo was ever to increase to 64 players. That maps used for this, would be like the Halo REACH Forge World.

That the 1 map, can be split into multiple maps to allow 4v4 and 8v8 game types.

You would still have maps made that are designed for 4v4 only.

I think 32 would be perfect, and still like to see 64 players. But by having a higher player count would not break Halo.

Ever since Halo CE, which only had 2 large maps for BTB. I have played with 16 players. And BTB with 16 players is fun, I think more players would equal more fun. More things can happen.

Add vehicles like the Scarab and Mammoth and other larger vehicles would make Halo insane.

Halo 4v4 would remain and always will be a important part of Halo MultiPlayer. The increase in player count would only mean is that you get some bigger maps.

I don’t maps like BF where it takes 5 mins to get to the other side of the map, maps like Sand Trap, Containment and Water Works are perfect.

Maps like Halo 2 Containment and Water Works and Halo 3 Sand Trap could easily support 32 players as they are now.

Maybe a new playlist, or a evolved Invasion Play list could be used for the 24, 32 or 64 player count games.

A spawning system, where you could spawn and land in drop-pods would be pretty cool.

The higher player count, and bigger maps can allow Halo to evolve and do things that have not been done yet.

The 4v4 would still remain and be as popular as any other Halo game. This would only affect BTB game types. And still the standard 8v8 BTB can remain.

My thoughts exactly, but seems people think that by wanting an increase in player count. You no longer want 4v4, and smaller maps.

This is just not true. I want what we have now. I just want another playlist that can support 24, 32 or 64 players.

I was hoping Halo 2 would have 24 players, and have sadly been disappointed with every Halo. This is one thing I would love to see.

You do make a good point, that the more people the less likely you matter.

But in BTB now, it can be the one person that makes all the difference. If you were playing a 64 player game of Halo, and you were that 1 person that changed the game, you are also more noticed.

I have BF3 and have played many games on the PC with 64 players and is amazing fun. Especially when you play small maps with 64 players, total insane.

I like to see the player count increase, I be happy with 24, happier with 32. And 64 could be amazing depending how they did it (Invasion).

i think it wouldnt get to chaotic if it went to 24 but anything else halo with its unique gameplay and map style would be lost in the chaos of the ridiculous swarm of people.
