As the title suggests i’ve decided the placement match function on this game is broken and pointless… Yeah ill agree im a little salty.
An example for this is that me and a friend are grinding out onyx for each playlist and once we have finished. We will then continue to tryhard in ‘Team Arena’. BTB came out the other day so me and my friend decided to get at least the placement matches done to have it ready for when we grind it for onyx… We both won 7 matches lost 3 (Due to unlucky matchmaking as per most) And when we were placed into a division… he was put into diamond 1 and i was put into plat 1… both participated the same games and wins/losses…
So unless peoples explanation of how this system works is incorrect i don’t feel it’s working as it should.

Whoops, placement matches actually do use KDA, it’s just subsequent matches that are based on winning. Disregard me I suck -Yoinks!-.

If it is true then i completely disagree with the system… Because that encourages people in game modes except slayer… such as strongholds. Capture the flag etc… slayer players who play only to control the map through kills will excel others in rankings…

Kinda confused where that paragraph in my quote came from…
But I think its a good start. KDA will point you towards what rank you should be. And then teamwork will get you further once your there.

I guess… my saltiness will subside once i start making my way to onyx
I’m pretty sure win/loss has absolutely nothing to do with placement. I skimmed through my game history to find that out of my first 10 matches of SWAT I won 3 and lost 7. I was eventually placed into Onyx.

Does it also just take into account W/L? I assume it does? Or to get a high rank is it best to -Yoink- your team and just concentrate on a High KDR? Then once you’re placed worry about being a team player?
Placements are personal recognition. They rank you against everyone in the game, even your team mates. If you do well you get a higher rating and if you do badly compared to your team-mates, even if you win, it will relook at your rank to make sure you are in the right place. I actually recommend playing placements solo as if your friend plays the obj or slays more, he will get a better rank.
The important factors for the placement matches are:
Win %
KDA
Ranks of your enemies
It aslo depends on the playlists @SpartanJ91.
In SWAT and FFA it is very very easy to get into the Onyx devision. Every decent player in my Friendlist is Onyx in those, even tho their KDAs and Win rates are very different.
In Big Team it seems hard to place into a good division. I played with an almost full team and we won 9/10 games. I also had a KD over 4.0 and many objective points and Assists. I “only” got placed into Diamond 1 with:
211 Kills
49 Deaths
95 Assists
I was expecting Onyx to be fair, but ohh well. Some of my teammates with worse stats placed into Platinum even with K/Ds of 2 and 90% win rate as well.
You do not need to stat pad and -yoink- on your teammates in placement matches. Its alright to give your best and get many kills/low deaths while going for the win of course. Some of you may find it “unfair” that KDA does count as well. But imo it would be way more unfair to get a bad rank just because your teammates suck/quit/betrayal or whatever. With KDA you can still earn some points for a better rank.
