HALO OPEN WORLD

343 is all about NEW. So why not give it a go? We’ve seen so much change, and an open world would be interesting.
Think about Pillar of Autumn being the Base of Operations so to say, like in the Division, because it is extremely large.
It would allow many players to explore a lot more of the Halo Universe. Especially parts that have not yet been seen!
Their could be a Campaign also, and separate missions that you could go to, being harder difficulty, where you destroy Halo Rings.
Think about being able to choose the maps you want to play on by jumping into a pelican with your team of 4, and going to the map you want to play on.
There could be different planets you visit. Forerunner worlds, Covenant worlds, and maybe a couple earth type worlds. Also flood type worlds.
Each world different scenarios could be happening. Perhaps on Covenant world you could create alliances with Elites,
and fight other Covenant life that are rogue, or fight Forerunners that are against the Covenant.
Go to flood worlds, and do Missions or something similar to firefight - not Spartan Ops.
As long as the game stays to it’s natural core. Keep the game as an FPS - not an RPG.

I have thought about this and it would be great if certain levels were open world like. But going full open world such as EVE Online would not be that great of an idea for now anyways.

They’ll never make a game like this. An Halo Open World would be too much big, and it will go against Halo Canon

My only issue with this is that Halo games tend to be set all over the galaxy, just look at Halo 2 and 5. Having one big map to set the entire campaign on would feel very limited. They sort of explored this concept with ODST, having the large city where the Rookie could drive around and find clues leading to his team mates. But ODST was a vey contained story, whith the hole thing taking place in that city.

I know Halo CE all took place on Alpha Halo, but the Halos have about 6.3 Millionkilometers squared of surface area. I think fans may have become suspisious if all the locations were in walking distance of one another.

You’d have better luck transfering Halo to a Mass Effect type of game structure, but Halo has always been strict when it comes to canon, meaning that an RPG would leave too many black holes in and untouchable areas for other games and media. And a game with the structure of Mass Effect without the choice elements would become stale very quickly.

I like my Halo as is, to be honest, with a set number of campaign missions that tell the story like chapters in a book, episodes of a TV show.

I think a Halo open world game would be an interesting idea but one that would be very hard to implement. The above posters pretty much nailed it, with Halo’s large preexisting Canon having an open world game where the player is given any kind of significant choices would be lore breaking, and having small inconsequential choices would probably be boring and un-fun.

That being said, I think there are other game types that Halo could possibly do. Maybe a murder-mystery game using

The Ferret team formed at the end of Halo: Last Light.or a racing game set in a post-war, civilian racing tournament.

So what your kinda saying is an EVE Halo mix with some division aspects and then if space combat like EVE but more like your controlling the movement and what your firing at with the ship i’d love it the only ones who wouldnt are filthy casuals

nice idea, maybe this would be helpful?
