Halo Online: The Remnant of an Old Community

Recently, Microsoft has shipped a take down of the fan made mod to Halo Online, Eldewrito. Now I have personally played this mod, and I can only say this, it is one of the most revealing experiences I have had in my career on Halo. From starting up the menu to hear the classic Halo 3 soundtrack to customizing my Spartan from head to toe, being able to pick custom colors and even a custom visor color, making my Spartan feel like my own. It was a blast to play Halo 3 on my computer, seeing how truly large this community was growing and how it was attracting Halo players from new and old generations. It saddens me to hear they are pursuing to halt development of this mod, as I have personally witnessed a lot of potential from this community and even more potential from the additions they added to the core game of Halo 3, like making the forge more in depth and adding things that even Halo 5 doesn’t have. I am in no way saying this take down is 343i’s fault, as I believe Microsoft issued them to announce this instead of 343i actually calling for the take down of this mod. I can only hope that 343i sees the potential in this game and the potential of these seasoned Halo modders, and that they bring them into their company or decide to work with them to make Halo Online a official title for everyone to play. Halo Online is still up in it’s current form, we will just never see updates to this mod sadly. However, let me know your opinions on the matter ladies and gentlemen of the Halo Community, do you think 343i is in the wrong here, do you think we may see official Halo games make it to the PC market like 343i did with Halo Wars, or do you believe that this is just another corporate take down of a very promising game? Let me know in the section below.
