is anyone else concerned that halo online may be a forshadowing of the future of halo games?
This may be a russia only test bed, but theyre obviously testing the waters to see if a free to play Halo micro transaction game is something players want.
For the record, i think halo online looks great and super jealous xbone wont get to play, i mean they re made turf ffs. And it seems like an awesome mix of halo 3 and 4. But at the same time, if i end up having to pay a couple hundred to unlock everything it kind of kills the hype a little.
Point is, i really hope this isnt a slippery slope of free to play halo.
They may be a F2P spin-off for the PC, but the console games I feel will be safe. Don’t fall into the clutches of the slippery-slope fallacy.

All I have to say, if there is some nefarious conspiracy to make Halo: Online’s way of Halo the dominant on the consoles, Halo 5 seems rather odd way to doing that.
Halo online is being developed by sabre interactive. It is unlikely this will come around and affect 343 and their future projects as the they are only funding it.
It’s about as valid as saying that Spartan Assault is a foreshadow.

This, honestly I feel Halo needs more “out there” side games like this, SA and HW keep the main games like they are (H5 and so on) and let Halo grow branchs everywhere.
Halo: Online is the way it is because of the target demographic; Russians.
I won’t go into detail but pretty much…
- Russians play PC a hell of a lot more than console- Full price games are rare, as ruskies are poor and prefer microtransactions. Same deal with games like the free CoD in China.- Hacking and piracy is rampant in RU, another reason why its free to play with microT’s
Thats all I got for now, but pretty much its an entirely different economic model for gaming over there.
