Halo: Online for PC announced in Russia.

YOOOOOOOOO

Microsoft today announced Halo Online, a PC-exclusive free-to-play title that will launch in Russia only.

The development of the game will be handled by Saber Interactive, who previously helped develop Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary edition and the recently released, Halo: The Master Chief Collection. 343 Industries will oversee the project.

Halo Online will be based after the events of Halo 3. It will feature classic weapons and vehicles from previous Halo games, as well as a bout of fan favorite maps. The game will be powered by a modified version of the Halo 3 engine.

As of yet, Microsoft has no plans to release the game outside of Russia.

Well, way to go, 343. You raised PC gamers’ hopes everywhere, then sank them faster than the Titanic. Good for you.

Windows players, particularly in the USA, have been waiting for Halo 3 for seven year****s now, not to mention CEA, H2A and H4. This is not what PC gamers had in mind AT ALL, especially since it’s restricted to ONE relatively small market for the forseeable future. Not to mention it’s FREE-TO-PLAY. That is one of the most unbalanced, unenjoyable kinds of FPSs. If the purpose of the closed beta was to test the game, then DON’T ANNOUNCE IT YET! You should have kept the project QUIET until you were ready for all your fans on PC. Your early publicity feels like a serious snub to many Windows gamers (particularly those of us in the US) who’ve been waiting for new Halo for a very long time. All you’ve done is dangle an unexpected carrot in front of our noses, then snatch it away. Not cool. Not cool at all.

343i, ordinarily I enjoy your blog posts. But this one rubbed me in all the wrong directions. Between this and the Magical Vanishing Spartan Strike, it just HURTS.

Looks like I’m going to have to keep waiting for unofficial games like Project Contingency and Installation 01 to get my Halo fix (and they look and sound about 100x better than Halo Online), only now I have to wait knowing that stuff like this is could be available but is being withheld from us by 343 and Microsoft. sigh
Have you no shame, Microsoft? Really? First you all but cancel Spartan Strike, then drop a bomb like this on our heads?

Ugh. FFS Microsoft. Master Chief Collection is what the PC Halo fans want, not some free to play multiplayer garbage, which appears to be for the Russian market only. Halo without the single player experience/story just isn’t worth a damn.

> Halo Online is a learning opportunity for us as we explore ways to welcome new fans to the “Halo” universe.

If 343/MS is looking for “ways” to welcome new fans, how about you give us OLD PC fans (remember Halo 1 and 2 were on PC as well) the MCC. That is what you needed to do, not this half-hearted effort.

Well, curious as to why it’s planned to be a Russian exclusive for now. This seems interesting, albiet not as exciting as H3 pc would have been.

Shame it’s Russia only but to be fair it does say that it’s closed beta and that probably means that it’s possible that it would lead to a more open/wide beta in the future.

Then WHY did they announce it NOW? It’s doing nothing but disappoint the 98% of us who aren’t living in Russia!

Quotes from Neogaf, translated from Russian :

> The game will include special packages and abilities: fighting, safety and support.
> The system is similar to the perks Call of Duty.
> Characters have levels, but what is the maximum – not reported
> Maps are designed specifically for Halo Online, while designed for 16 people.
> During the entrance to the card players get a job: to kill the head, jump 10 times, and so.
> On the map you can find different weapons: Bazooka example, which replaces the pistol slot.
> During the spawn, you can change the class and weapons
> After the murder of cards with the player who killed you
> There are attacks from the back
> Saber Interactive engaged in the development
> The game is focused on Russia and the CIS, is not excluded release in Europe
> For classes have 5 slots. Two is available immediately, and the rest are opened as pumping
> On the maps, there are two so-called powerfull-arms on the map: grenade, for example
> Weapons are purchased at a time, all armor
> The game has a lobby system, where you can gather with friends and fight with them
> The game runs on a reworked engine of Halo 3
> When the gun lying on the floor, it has an aura: green – accuracy, red – Done. This is done to ensure that the player is not standing and reading characteristics of the weapons – which is better or worse
> The game is currently melenkie card without technology, but in the future will be added to the large appliances.
> Each piece of armor has its own parameters: speed of movement on the shoes or gloves at the rate of recharge
> The plot and PVE mission has not been considered
> The game currently supports only one language – Russian. Will map where the battle will go on the territory of Russia

At first, I was very disappointed that it would be Russia-only. But after reading all of that, not so much. Russia can keep their game. It’s as though they took all of the terrible ideas from this forum and made a game with them. I will gladly pass on this, thanks.

It’ll be neat to see gameplay of it, sure, but I have no interest in playing this sort of game.

343…

Wat r u doin

The reasoning behind it being Russia only for now is most likely due to Saber Interactive - who are developing it - having their primary workforce located there. There may be other reasons though, just taking a guess. All-in-all, sounds like a cool project.

April fools.

A cool project that about 50 people will get to play.

I’m not exactly sure I feel great about this…
It bears the halo name on it…

Couldn’t of said it better myself. I am actually genuinely upset and hurt by this announcement today. I bought an Xbox One JUST for Halo MCC & Halo 5 but with the hope that they would come to the PC. I’m actually considering saying F**K the Halo franchise and moving on after this slap to the face.

I’d agree with that, but everything else Saber’s done for Halo hasn’t excluded roughly 94% of the consumer market.

Not a PC gamer, but why do I get this feeling 343i is ripping off PC gamers worldwide except Russia right now?

Oh wait, they are, this is really unfair to anyone outside that country.

I think it’s unfair to even announce a F2P title. I think if they announced a straight port of Halo 3 to PC today instead of this the PC Community would be so happy. Something as little as that would be a great gesture to us. But they go ahead and do this? Ugh.

Actually, my opinion has been forming. I have a bad feeling about this…

Maybe 343 is planning something for pc and this game for Russia is type of stress test. I was a huge fan of halo pc also but anyone who is angered by this needs to get over themselves, this is nothing but a smart business move.

I don’t even care its Russia only right now as its most likely going international but what bothers me is this exists at all. Really? A F2P Halo? How dense are you guys? This is a horrible idea, not to mention as of right now it honestly looks like -Yoink-. What has the PC community been asking for since 2007? Halo 3 on the PC. NOT THAT HARD TO DO GUYS. And yet in 2015 what do we get? A lame F2P Halo fps thats currently Russia only? Are you serious?
