Halo Online Content In MCC

Back in the days before waypoint got it’s update, many people here expressed interest in having the Halo Online maps imported into MCC. As we stand now, 343i has done a fantastic job at porting over three of (the complete) six maps that are available from the game. With the latest update, I’m once again disappointed to see that the remaining maps was not given the same treatment.

To refresh the people on here or to inform them of the maps, here they are;

  • Diamondback (recreation of avalanche) - https://www.halopedia.org/Diamondback

  • Reactor (original map) - https://www.halopedia.org/Reactor_(Halo_Online_map)

  • Skybridge (original map) - https://www.halopedia.org/Sky_bridge

There is also a massive pool of armour and weapon skins that are missing from the MCC, despite some of them making their way into the game in some form. When considering that there are quite a lot of halo 4 weapon skins that also did not make it (including the cut weapon skins from the game) I feel that this would be plenty of items for players to continue the journey for us to unlock a bounty of items and also simultaneously please the part of the community that wants more items for the elites to make an appearance.

Now with the community on the PC becoming more vibrant with mods, 343 should choose the best customization mods and release them as an offical part of the game (with permissions of course)

as far as customization goes, I’ve been waiting for them to release the 7 H:O sets that were hinted at in the flights and trailers for Halo 3, yet never released:

as well as hoping they would consider adding the rest of the Elite sets from Halo Online starting with Cleric (Cleric in particular has the proper waist armor for the Halo Online legs stored on it, which would fix the visual clipping issues caused by those legs using the incorrect Halo 3 Combat waist)

Agreed, I think it’s great that we are getting continued updates for the games. If I had a choice I think I would have prefered these cut armours to make the game rather than the gundam-styled armours.

All that stuff that is in that list looks like it has already got assets, which I imagine means half of the work is already done to implement it into the game - hopefully, it all can be made available for us to use.

Ye the community has been clamoring for this content to be added for a very long time. Like you, I am super happy and grateful with what they’ve added so far but they should finish the port.

Also I believe you’re missing the Powerhouse remake in your map list above.

Did powerhouse ever make it into production? to my understanding of the other halo online maps, they were concepts. With that said, we thought the same of waterfall, and that has made it into the collection.

Hayabusa armor in Halo 4, Kinight, Blaster, Spectrum, Preserve, Strider, and Blackguard Tearful Bishop is some other armor sets I would like to see make a comeback

In addition to all of the armor from Halo Online yet to be include in MCC, there’s also the remaining maps Diamondback (desert version of Halo 3’s Avalanche), Reactor, and Sky Bridge.

And then of course there are the customization features that Halo Online had, especially in regards to its forge mode. There’s a reddit page that has a bunch of points that better articulate some ideas than I can, so I’ll just put in the link.

TLDR, more forge options, weapon variations, and extra equipment would make for some incredibly wacky and fun custom games in CGB. And being able to change the lighting on our armor would be just chef’s kiss for the armor customization.

Reactor and Diamondback are actual existing maps within Halo Online, Sky bridge is only a concept as far as i know

I also loved the customizable armour lights in Halo Online. Would love to see that come back, but I expect it wont.

This isn’t exactly correct, the map was indeed in a finished state from the pictures that we have seen, it was just never released for some reason

From the development screenshots that were released a fair ways back, Skybridge was in a near finished state;

Thanks for confirming this. Hopefully, we will see some hints towards all of the remaining halo online stuff when the community data mines the new update.

So to the best of my knowledge, Powerhouse was actually recreated from the ground up using the H3 engine. I don’t think it was ever released in H:O but the rumor is that it was pretty much complete.

So check these screenshots out on Halopedia: https://www.halopedia.org/Sky_bridge

Sky Bridge definitely exists as a playable asset, however it may need to be polished up before it’s ready for market.

I remember when 343i released edge and waterfall there was a lot of criticism over them not feeling part of halo 3. I will agree that waterfall feels more like halo 3 than edge does, but I feel they both fit in pretty well.

After seeing more footage of the halo online maps however, I have noticed a lot of the assets were ported from halo 4 and reach. I do wonder if it is possible to add these maps to halo reach (diamondback) and halo 4 (skybridge)

Tbf, most of waterfall’s critics were just people who lumped it in with their dislike of edge, simply due to it not being a legacy map like Icebox

As for porting those maps to games that aren’t Halo 3; they theoretically could attempt to do it, just as they could attempt to port any of the existing Halo 3 maps across to any games within the collection, but it wouldn’t be practical to do so as the work involved would be near equal to just remaking the maps entirely.

It would be really cool to see a city skyline Map in Halo 3, especially if we get another (much needed) forge update, I’d really like to see it on par with Eldewrito’s.

I agree, I was pleased that we finally got these maps ported over. I honestly don’t mind which halo game they are ported to as I think they all would fit nicely into halo 3, but I know diamondback has its critics aswell.

Agreed, I’m not one for messing around in forge but more maps means more variety! the one thing I would change on skyline is to replace the banshee and shade turrets with the UNSC equivalent due to the map taking place in Korea and not Mombasa. It’s just a nitpick but I would be happy to just have the maps released as they are, to be honest.
