> Today, we’re excited to announce a project we’ve been working on with our partners Saber Interactive and Innova Systems: Halo Online, an all-new, free Halo multiplayer PC experience that will launch in spring, only in Russia.
>
> Halo Online is powered by a highly modified version of the Halo 3 engine and optimized for smooth performance on lower-end PCs. While there’s no campaign mode, Halo Online is set on a secret UNSC space installation called Anvil, where Spartan-IV soldiers train together in war exercises to sharpen their battle skills and test experimental technology.
>
> During the Halo Online closed beta, we will continuously adjust and modify gameplay, features, and the in-game economy. We’re looking forward to getting feedback from gamers living in Russia when Halo Online enters closed beta later this spring via Innova’s 4game platform.
This is interesting cause of the lore tibits. A secret UNSC space installation called Anvil.

> There are healthy military relationships stretching back to 2553. Classified records associated with the ANVIL initiative indicate a number of very select joint training engagements.
The ANVIL initiative anyone.
Real shame we are missing out on this cause of not living in Russia.

Sad move for Lore fans. Who want to know every bit of the Halo Universe xD
They did say the closed beta is focused on Russia only so hopefully it will come to the States, and hopefully the rest of the globe soon.
“Right now our focus is on learning as much as we can from the closed beta period in Russia. Theoretically, any expansion outside of Russia would have to go through region-specific changes to address player expectations.”

An annoying one. D:
I want to play this! I just got a new computer, and everything!

Hence the reason I posted it in the Universe section cause right now its kinda just lore info we cant get. Other than speculate ^^’
So let me get this straight. Halo PC fans wait 8 years for this? Just GIVE US THE MAIN FREAKING FRANCHISE ON PC ALREADY AND STOP MESSING WITH OUR HEARTS, AHHHH, AHHHHHHHH. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

Probably a temporary move because Russia has a higher amount of PC players. I’m fine with it if it means getting a better version of it here in the States.

Only in China.

And ruin Xbox One’s chance to compete with PS4? Ha. Personally I"m fine with this because it means I don’t have to shell out money for Halo.
If anyone is wondering why the beta is in Russian, it is because Saber Interactive is a Russian studio, so they’ll want to release a beta in the region they know the best to get it working.
Can I ask whether there are any legit sources of information besides the blog post and grims small statement on the ANVIL initiative. That would be nice. I actually think that the proper way to react to Halo online (in terms of lore gameplay whatever) is the same way as you would Spartan strike. Side game, smaller community, not on the main agenda. The multiplayer and platform gives the illusion it’s something big but I think it’s more of a small release, not even comparable to ODST or CEA levels of release.
Back on topic, I think it is really likely elites are going to make their appearance in multiplayer. anyway, why is there a need for ANVIL? Is the s-deck on infinity or whatever it is breakout is played on not enough? Why is a secret training area necessary for Spartans. Not restricted area secret but this place doesn’t exist kind of secret. Really covert operations perhaps. Maybe covert operations with Sangheili? Maybe against them.
im so sad because its only for russia, ive been waiting a long time for a halo pc game, cause my best friend stopped using console because the “pc gaming master race” nonsense, but he still likes halo, and we’ve been hoping to play and this was that one chance and suddenly only for russia, im so dissapointed because of that
